Business Consulting Proposal Template for Word, Framed Cover
A consulting proposal is judged on two things at once: the thinking inside it and the care that went into presenting it. Prospects assume that an advisor who delivers a careless document will deliver careless advice. This Business Consulting Proposal Template offers six refined Word pages that let your analysis, your team, and your fees speak with authority.
Positioning Before Paperwork
Before you open the template, write one sentence describing the client's problem in their own words. If you cannot, you are not ready to send a proposal. The executive summary page has a shaded panel for exactly this sentence, followed by four tiles of credibility and a table of objectives that pairs each goal with a measure and a target.
Page by Page
The framed cover carries your firm's name and the title. The Executive Summary states the challenge and objectives. Our Approach splits a twelve-week engagement into Diagnose, Design, Deliver, and Embed, with a plan table showing deliverables and the client's involvement. Team and Credentials opens with a wide team photo and a table of names, roles, and experience. Fees compares a workshop, a fixed-scope project, and a monthly retainer, with a payment schedule. The final page covers terms and acceptance.
A Quiet, Editorial Look
Deep teal and brass sit on a warm cream ground, with thin double rules framing the cover like a printed report. A set of concentric compass rings and a needle hint at direction without shouting. Inside, rounded header corners soften the grid pattern, and brass tabs mark each section. Headings are set in Cambria, a sturdy serif, and a small spaced-caps Section 01 label sits above each title. Both Cambria and Calibri are installed with Microsoft Office.
A Sample Opening You Can Adapt
Over the past two years, [Client Name] has grown revenue by thirty percent while margins have narrowed. This proposal sets out a twelve-week engagement to show where profit is made and lost, to agree three priorities and to put them into practice with your team.
Replace the figures and the sector, and keep the shape: what changed, what you will do, how long it will take.
Choosing the Engagement Model
Offering three models lets the client choose how to work with you instead of whether. A one-day workshop is a low-risk way in, the fixed-fee project is the recommended path, and the retainer suits leaders who want you on call. Tie the project payments to milestones, as the schedule on the fees page does, so both sides see progress before each invoice.
Editing Notes
Every table can be edited in place, and bold [bracketed] text marks the lines to replace. The team photo on page four is a picture frame: click it and choose Change Picture to add a group portrait. Keep names and roles short so the table stays on one line per person.
Consultant Questions Answered
Is this suitable for a sole consultant?
Yes. List yourself and any associates in the team table and remove the analyst row.
How long should the final proposal be?
Six pages are enough for most engagements. Add an appendix for detailed case studies if the client asks.
