Cosmetology students train toward a state board license by logging hundreds of hours of theory and hands-on practice, much of it on the school’s clinic floor serving real clients. Their ID card has to identify them to clients as students, track progress toward those hours, and look as polished as the salons they hope to work in. This Cosmetology Student ID Card frames the student’s photo in an oval vanity mirror with a rose gold rim and tiny sparkles, under a deep espresso header flanked by salon scissors.
A Rose Gold Mirror on Blush
The header is a rich espresso brown with a pair of rose gold salon scissors on each side. LUXE BEAUTY ACADEMY is set between them in Prata, a refined serif, with Cosmetology · Esthetics · Nails in rose. The rest of the card is a soft blush nude.
The student’s photo sits in a large oval mirror: a rose gold outer rim, a paler inner rim, and a white edge, with four small white sparkles at the top, bottom, and sides of the frame as if light were catching the glass. Below the mirror, the name is set in Prata, Chloé Martin on the sample, with Cosmetology Student · 1,000-Hour Program in rose. A table lists the student ID, programme, hours logged so far (620 of 1,000 on the sample), and validity date. Our logo sits on a white plate, and a rose band runs along the bottom edge.
It is a CR80 card in portrait orientation, measuring 2.125 x 3.375 inches.
The Clinic Floor Pass
The back repeats the espresso header with the scissors and reads CLINIC FLOOR PASS. An hours log table tracks theory and practical hours month by month: 40 theory and 120 practical hours in September, 36 and 128 in October, with November and December left blank. A QR code labelled SCAN: HOURS PORTAL can link to the school’s hours tracking system. A contact table lists the instructor, phone, emergency number, and kit number, followed by a note that clinic services are performed by students under licensed instructor supervision and that tools and stations must be disinfected between every client. Signature lines for the student and instructor sit above the rose band.
Licensing Hours Vary by State
| Programme | Typical hour range in US states |
|---|---|
| Cosmetology | About 1,000 to 2,100 hours |
| Esthetics | About 260 to 750 hours |
| Nail technology | About 100 to 600 hours |
| Barbering | About 1,000 to 2,000 hours |
Requirements change, so check your state board of cosmetology for the current number. The card’s programme line and hours row can be edited to match any requirement.
Styling the Card for Your Academy
- Mirror photo: click inside the oval mirror and choose Replace Image; a polished headshot with styled hair and makeup shows off the student’s skills.
- Academy name: retype LUXE BEAUTY ACADEMY and the services line (barbering, makeup artistry, esthetics).
- Programme and hours: update the programme line and the HOURS LOGGED row as the student progresses; many schools reprint the card each term.
- Tables: the ID rows and the monthly hours log are editor Tables, rewritten via Edit Data; + Row adds months.
- QR code: link it to the hours portal, the student’s booking page, or a portfolio of their work in the Barcodes & QR panel.
- Scissors: both pairs are editable vectors that recolour from their swatches; swap one for a brush or comb if you prefer.
Clients on the Clinic Floor
Clients who book services at a beauty school know they are being served by students, but a clear badge still matters. It builds trust, lets clients ask for the same student next time, and helps instructors find students quickly on a busy floor. Introduce yourself by name, explain the service and how long it will take, and involve the instructor for anything you are unsure about. A student who communicates well often builds a loyal client list before graduation, and many of those clients follow them to their first salon.
Sanitation and Infection Control
State board exams test sanitation as seriously as technique, because cosmetology involves close contact with skin, hair and nails. Disinfect implements with an approved disinfectant for the required contact time, use single-use items once, wash hands between clients, and keep stations clean and organised. The note on the back of the card is a daily reminder. Many schools also log disinfection of stations, which inspectors may ask to see.
Beauty Schools, Barber Academies and Makeup Programmes
Cosmetology and beauty schools, barber colleges, esthetics and skincare programmes, nail technology schools, makeup artistry academies and high school cosmetology programmes can all use this design. Salons that train apprentices can adapt it, listing apprenticeship hours in the same table.
Printing Rose Gold and Blush
Printed rose gold is a warm, dusty pink rather than true metal. For extra shine, a print shop can foil the mirror rim and scissors. Print a test card to check that the blush background does not look beige, and that the white sparkles are visible. Laminate the card or use PVC, since salon floors mean water, product and hair spray.
State Board Exam Preparation
Most students finish their hours and then sit a written theory exam and a practical exam before receiving their licence. Keeping an accurate hours log throughout the programme avoids last-minute surprises when the school submits paperwork to the board. Use the hours table and QR code on this card to check progress regularly, and book mock practical exams in the final months.
Beauty Student Questions
Can I track hours for esthetics instead of cosmetology?
Yes. Change the programme line to Esthetics and the hours to your state’s requirement, for example, 600.
Is the mirror one object?
The rims and sparkles are grouped behind the photo; the photo itself is a separate oval slot on top.
Can instructors wear the same design?
Duplicate it and change the programme line to LICENSED INSTRUCTOR.
Open the template, place the student in the vanity mirror, log their hours, and let them greet every client with a card as polished as their work.
