Photographers are hired on their portfolio, but agencies, studios, and brands still ask for a resume to see who you have worked with, how you run a shoot, and what you can deliver. This template frames your career the way you frame a shot: through a viewfinder, with a strip of film running down the edge of the page.

Framing the Shot

A black film strip with white sprocket holes runs down the left side of the page. In the header, four black viewfinder corner brackets frame your name, which is set in large, widely spaced Josefin Sans capitals. Below it, your specialty appears in spaced coral letters, and a line of camera settings, such as f/2.8, 1/250 s, ISO 200 and 35 mm, sits underneath in small monospace type. A coral record pill sits in the top corner, and a small focus point marks the lower corner of the frame. Your contact details follow in a soft grey strip.

What the Body Holds

The main column covers your profile, experience, exhibitions and awards, teaching and workshops, and publications. The side column shows specialties as chips, selected clients, your gear, software skill bars, education, and the services you offer. Everything a creative director needs is on one page, so your portfolio link can do the rest.

Shot List: Bullets That Show How You Work

  • Volume: Shoot 60+ commercial and editorial jobs a year.
  • Loyalty: Grew repeat clients to 70% of yearly revenue.
  • Leadership: Manage crews of up to eight on set.
  • Range: Built the magazine's first video series.
  • Craft: Lit sets and ran tethered capture on 200+ shoots.

Choosing Clients to List

Selected clients are social proof. List six names that best match the work you want: food brands for a food agency, fashion labels for a fashion studio. If you shot through an agency, you can usually name the end client, but check your contracts. For confidential work, describe the industry instead, such as a national coffee brand.

Gear and Software Without Showing Off

Clients care more about your images than your camera, so keep the gear list short and practical: your camera system, lens range, lighting kit, and any special equipment such as a drone with a license. The software bars show your editing workflow. If you deliver video, list your editing software and note it in your specialties.

Rates, Usage and Professionalism

Agencies hire photographers they can trust with budgets and brands. Mention that you handle usage licensing, call sheets and model releases, and that you deliver on schedule. Never put rates on your resume, but be ready to discuss day rates and licensing terms in the interview.

Changing the Frame in Word

  • The film strip, sprockets, viewfinder brackets, focus point, and record pill are shapes in the page header. Double-click near the top of the page to recolor or delete them.
  • The camera settings line is plain text; change it to the settings of your favorite shot.
  • Skill bars are two-cell tables; drag the boundary to set a level.

Typefaces and Pairing It With a Portfolio

Josefin Sans and Lato are free from Google Fonts. The resume fits one US Letter page. Always send it with a link to a short, focused portfolio, and match the first three images to the client's style. Refresh the selected clients list each season so it reflects your latest and strongest work.
