A Black Friday sale can bring you dozens or hundreds of new customers. The question is how to make them come back. A thank-you card in every order is one of the simplest ways: it adds a personal touch and gives customers a reason to shop with you again. This 4 x 6 inch insert card has an elegant thank you on the front and a next-order discount on the back.

Thank You Card Front

The front is black with a fine gold border inset from the edges. Small gold confetti pieces float across the top. Thank you is written large in gold Great Vibes script, followed by for shopping our in cream italic and BLACK FRIDAY SALE in white spaced capitals. A small red heart sits below, and a line in soft grey reads: Every order is packed by hand in our little studio. A gold logo mark finishes the card.

Thank You Card Back

The back is white. A gold line at the top reads A LITTLE GIFT FOR NEXT TIME. 15% off is set large in black Playfair Display, with your next order in italic below. A dashed gold box holds CODE and THANKYOU15 in heavy black letters. A short line gives the expiry date and one use per customer, followed by a fine rule, the shop’s social handle and website, and a small logo mark.

Why Insert Cards Bring Customers Back

  • Personal touch: a card feels like a note from a real person.
  • A reason to return: a discount gives customers a nudge to order again.
  • Easy to keep: postcard size fits on a fridge or noticeboard.
  • Trackable: a unique code shows how many customers return.

Editing the Discount Code

Replace THANKYOU15 with a code you have set up in your store, and change 15% to your offer. Set an expiry date that encourages a return visit after the holidays, such as the end of January, when sales are often quieter. Make sure the code works online and in-store if you say so on the card.

Adding a Handwritten Note

A short handwritten line, such as Thanks, Maya! Enjoy the candles; it makes a huge difference. If you have time, write the customer’s name on the front or a few words on the back near the code. Customers often share photos of personal notes on social media, which brings your shop free attention.

Printing the Insert Cards

Download the PDF with both sides and print on heavy card stock. A print shop can print double-sided postcards in bulk at a low cost per card. For a premium feel, ask about matte finishes or gold foil for the script on the front. You can also print them at home on 4 x 6 inch card.

Changing the Insert Card Colours

Black and gold feel luxurious and suit Black Friday. Your brand colours may suit better: kraft and black for eco brands, blush and rose gold for beauty, or navy and silver for menswear. Keep the back light so the code is easy to read.

Insert Cards for Online Orders

For online shops, place the card on top of the products so it is the first thing customers see when they open the parcel. Unboxing moments are memorable, and a well-designed card makes the parcel feel like a gift.

Insert Cards for In-Store Purchases

In a shop, slip a card into each bag at the till. Mention it as you hand over the bag: There’s a little thank you inside for next time. A short sentence like this makes sure customers notice the card.

Tracking Returning Customers

Because the card uses a specific code, you can count how many customers return using it. Compare the number of cards handed out with the number of codes used to see how well the card works. Many small shops find insert cards one of their most cost-effective marketing tools.

Card Accessibility Tips

Script fonts are beautiful but harder to read, so the important information- the code and expiry- is on the back in clear type. Keep that side simple and high contrast.

Pairing the Card With Packaging

The card works best as part of a thoughtful unboxing. Wrap products in tissue paper in your brand colour, add a sticker seal, and place the card on top. These small touches cost little but make customers feel the parcel was packed just for them.

Choosing a Code Expiry Date

An expiry date encourages customers to return before they forget. Six to ten weeks after Black Friday is a common choice, bringing customers back in January. Too short, and customers feel rushed; too long, and the card gets lost in a drawer.

How Many Cards to Print

Print slightly more cards than the orders you expect, plus extras for market stalls and in-store bags. Bulk printing usually lowers the cost per card.

Writing a Warm Thank You Message

The front line, Every order is packed by hand in our little studio, tells a small story about your business. Replace it with a sentence that reflects your own story, such as where you are based, who makes the products, or why you started. A personal line makes the card feel like a real note rather than a promotion.

Thank You Card Questions

Can I use it after Black Friday?

Yes. Change BLACK FRIDAY SALE to for shopping with us and use it all year.

Can I add a QR code?

Add a small QR code on the back linking to your shop or a review page.

Can I ask for a review on the card?

Saying thank you is good manners and good business. Set your code, print your cards, and turn Black Friday customers into loyal regulars.
