A Strategy Cover That Looks Like a Board Game
Strategy is about choices, and the photograph on this cover shows hands moving pieces across a map, which fits the idea well. Under it, a large stacked title and a coral date bar keep the page orderly. The cover suits strategic plans for companies, departments, nonprofits and schools, and it reads well in a board or leadership pack.
Photo Header and Stacked Title
The page is 8.5 x 11 inches, portrait, one page. A wide photograph spans the top, with a white SAMPLE LOGO over its lower right. Below, STRATEGIC, BUSINESS and PLAN are stacked in heavy dark navy capitals. A coral bar to the right of PLAN holds the date, Nov 15, 202X. The photo is replaceable, and the bar is a graphic.
Choosing a Photograph That Fits Strategy
Good options include a map, a whiteboard with arrows, a chessboard or your team in a planning session. Avoid crowded images that fight with the logo. The logo appears in white, so choose a photo with a darker area at the lower right.
Prepared For Details
On the right side, PREPARED FOR: in bold is followed by a coral COMPANY NAME, then a contact name, a title, the company address and phone and email lines. Text is right aligned. If the plan is for your own leadership team, you can write the department name and the lead’s name.
The Closing Paragraph and Rule
A thin coral line and a centred paragraph in dark text end the page. Use the paragraph for the planning period, for example Strategic priorities for the next three years, and a note on confidentiality if needed.
What Belongs in a Strategic Plan
- Mission, vision and values in short statements.
- An honest look at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
- Three to five priorities with owners.
- Targets and the measures that show progress.
- A calendar for reviews.
Editing Notes for the Strategic Plan Cover
Text edits freely. Keep the stacked title short, because each word is large. If you change PLAN to ROADMAP or REVIEW, check that the date bar still fits beside it.
Printing for the Strategic Plan Cover
Print on 170 gsm paper for a leadership meeting, with a spiral binding. The photo header prints best on silk stock.
Turning Priorities Into an Action Table
A strategy only matters if it leads to action. Add a table with each priority, the first three steps, the owner, the deadline and the measure of success. Review it every quarter and mark each line as on track, at risk or done. The cover sets the tone, but the table makes the plan real.
Matching the Plan to the Planning Cycle
Most organisations review strategy once a year and adjust each quarter. Put the planning period on the cover, such as 2027 to 2029, and the date of the next review on page two. A plan with dates is harder to ignore.
For comparison, open the expansion business plan cover. Consider the feasibility business plan cover. Similar designs include the operations business plan cover. The rest of the series around the strategic plan cover is in business and report cover pages.
