Read This Before You Choose a Holiday Card Design
People often pick a gift card by colour alone, then find it fights with their printer, their envelope or their message. This peach holiday card is an easy one to live with. It is light, so it prints cheaply. It is warm, so it looks inviting. And it carries a broad greeting, so it suits almost any recipient.
The Design Up Close
The card is 8.5 x 4 inches in landscape. The background is a creamy peach with a soft brown fade at the top, where fir branches hang across the width of the card and small white stars and dots float among them. Behind the writing area, very faint silhouettes of reindeer, rabbits, snowflakes and leaves repeat as a gentle pattern.
The headline HAPPY HOLIDAYS is large and red, in a hand-cut style with small stars attached to the letters. Beneath it, Gift Certificate is set in plain black text. Five fill-in lines run across the lower half: To, From, Amount, Valid Until and Signature.
Filling the Five Lines
- To has a long line with the grey prompt Recipient Name.
- From sits at the right, with the prompt Sender Name.
- Amount starts with a dollar sign, so you can type a value straight away.
- Valid Until shows mm-dd-yy, which you replace with your own expiry date.
- Signature is left blank for a pen.
What You Can Edit
The labels and prompts are text, so you can retype them. The HAPPY HOLIDAYS lettering and the fir branches are artwork, so they stay as they are unless you replace them. You can change the colours of the lines and text, which lets you adapt the card to a brand colour or to a different holiday.
Handwriting or Typed?
The light background is kind to handwriting. A dark blue or black gel pen looks neat and personal. If your writing is hard to read, type the names and the amount in the editor, print, and sign only by hand. For a batch of cards for a team, typing saves a lot of time and avoids errors.
Giving the Card
A card of this size slips into a standard business envelope, the long kind often called number 10, without folding. A kraft or cream envelope suits the warm colours. Add a sprig of greenery or a ribbon for a final touch.
Printing the Peach Holiday Card
The light colours use little ink, and a standard inkjet will do well. Use 250 to 300 gsm card stock in white or ivory. Because the width equals a letter sheet, use Fit to page, or print on a larger sheet and trim to the border.
Matching Cards for a Whole Team
If you give a certificate to every member of a team, print them all from the same file, then add a different name by hand on each. Keeping the design identical makes the gesture feel fair, and the warm peach colour looks friendly in an office. Add a short handwritten line on the back for a personal touch.
