A Card for Someone Who Runs the Newsroom
A general manager of a press organisation is not at the scene of a story, but still deals with accreditation, partners, advertisers and officials. Their card has to look senior and international. This design uses a deep navy background with a faint world map and a large PRESS header, which suggests a global news operation. It suits media managers, bureau chiefs, publishers and heads of communication.
What You See on the Front
The card is portrait, 2.63 x 3.88 inches. The background is dark navy with a continent shaped map in slightly lighter blue and two large translucent circles. At the top, PRESS is set in huge white capitals. A white circle holds the photo placeholder. Below it, EMPLOYEE NAME is in bright blue capitals, with General Manager as a small white line. A table in white lists Member Since: June 20XX, Expiry Date: June 20XX, Date of Birth: July 15, 19XX, Contact Numer: +1234567890 and Blood Group: AB+. A LOGO sits at the lower right.
What You See on the Back
The back is a blue gradient. A LOGO sits at the top right. A Terms and Conditions heading is followed by three bullets of placeholder text, then Signature Authority and Job Position in blue, with a sample signature. At the bottom, a curved lighter blue shape holds four lines with icons: address, email, phone numbers and website, and a barcode picture in a white tile.
Correct One Label Before Printing
As in the other cards in this press series, the label Contact Numer has a missing letter. Click the label and correct it to Contact Number. It is a small thing that matters on a card meant to look official.
Reading White Text on Navy
The data table is white on a dark background, so it is easy to read, but the lines are small. Check the printed card in normal light. If it is hard to read, increase the font by a point or two. Avoid long text in the table. Short values such as dates and numbers work best.
What to Add for a Manager
- A department or desk, such as Operations or Bureau Chief, in place of or in addition to General Manager.
- A direct contact number for accreditation queries.
- A line that says which organisations or events the card is valid for.
- A date for review, so that the card is renewed regularly.
Signature and Authority
The back is where authority is shown. A press manager’s card might be countersigned by the publisher or a board member. Replace the sample signature with a real one, or leave a clear space for it. Add the job position under the signature, so that anyone checking knows who authorised the card.
Photo and Name for a Press Manager
Click the photo circle and choose Replace Image. Retype the name as it appears on official papers. If the manager uses a professional name, ask which to print.
Printing the Navy World Map Card
Dark backgrounds benefit from a laser or PVC print, which gives a deep, even colour. On a home printer, use 250 to 300 gsm matte card stock and test one copy. Print both sides and add a lanyard slot.
