Fix the Copy First: Supplies, Not Costumes
This template is titled Halloween Party Supplies Coupon, but some of its small text was copied from a costume coupon. It says YOUR NEXT COSTUME PURCHASE! and Valid on all Halloween costumes and accessories. The discount badge also shows 26%, while the code reads BOO20, which suggests 20 percent. Before you print, make these four edits.
- Change YOUR NEXT COSTUME PURCHASE! to YOUR NEXT PARTY SUPPLIES PURCHASE!
- Change the small line to “Valid on all Halloween decorations, tableware, balloons and party favours.”
- Make the number and the code agree, for example 20% with BOO20.
- Replace the expiry placeholder, which ends in 20XX, with a real date.
A Spooky Skyline
The coupon is 6 x 3 inches in landscape. The background is a very dark brown red, lit by a huge golden moon in the right half. In front of the moon, bare black trees reach up, a grave marker stands near the edge, and a city skyline of dark towers with lit windows stretches across. A carved jack-o’-lantern with a fierce glowing face sits in the foreground. Bats flit across the top.
On the left, Halloween appears in a yellow script, with PARTY SUPPLIES COUPON in white capitals below. A huge yellow 26 and a percent sign with OFF is next, with a GET tag. A rounded box reads USE CODE BOO20, and a small QR code tile sits in the lower right. The fonts are Barlow and Alex Brush.

Timing the Coupon
Party supplies sell early. Hosts plan decorations and food in the two weeks before Halloween, and they buy tableware and candy bowls earlier than costumes. Hand out coupons from the first week of October, and set the expiry a day or two before the 31st so that customers do not leave it to the last minute.
Reading Dark Colours on Paper
The dark brown background hides small text. Make sure the line with your terms is large enough to read and printed in a light colour. Print a test and view it under shop lighting. Use matte 200 to 250 gsm card stock to avoid reflections that make dark designs hard to read.
Distribution Ideas
- Insert in bags with every costume sale.
- Leave stacks at schools and community halls.
- Offer a digital copy to your email list.
- Post the image on social media with a short caption.
Combining Coupons With a Party Checklist
Hosts like help. Print a short checklist on the back of the coupon, or give a matching flyer: decorations, tableware, candy bowls, costumes, music and games. Each item tells shoppers what to buy, and the coupon gives them a reason to buy it all in one trip. Staff can tick items as they help customers, which makes the shopping experience feel personal.
