Black Friday Is Won Before It Starts
The shops that do best on Black Friday are not the ones with the biggest discounts. They are the ones that tell customers early what is coming. A voucher like this one, handed out or posted a week before, builds anticipation, gives your regulars a reason to come back, and lets you test your message. It is built to be bold, and the text on it does one thing at a time.
Reading the Voucher
The voucher is 6 x 2.5 inches in landscape. The left half is black with a torn, jagged edge where it meets a deep red panel. A white diagonal strip carries the SAMPLE LOGO. Below it, BLACK is printed in black on white, FRIDAY in white on a red ribbon, and DISCOUNT in white capitals, with small text beneath it reading FROM 27 TO 30 NOV.
On the right, UP TO is set above a huge white 80%, with a yellow ribbon marked OFF. At the bottom, a white QR code tile sits next to a white megaphone icon with sound lines. A line of grey filler text runs across the bottom. The fonts are Oswald, Inter and Noto Sans.
Be Careful With “Up To”
The phrase Up To 80% OFF is a standard sales message, but it carries responsibility. In many countries, advertising rules say that at least some products must really be reduced by that amount, and often a meaningful number of them. Check the rules where you trade. A fair way to use it is to name the exact items that reach 80 percent and the usual range of others, for example “Up to 80% off selected winter stock.”
Update the Dates
The dates 27 to 30 NOV are a sample. Black Friday falls on the day after US Thanksgiving, so for 2026 it is Friday 27 November. Retype the dates to your own sale period and add the year if you reuse the voucher. If your sale starts earlier or runs through Cyber Monday, change the text to match.
Steps to Customise
- Replace SAMPLE LOGO with your own, which should work on both the white strip and the black.
- Change 80% to your highest real discount.
- Retype the dates under DISCOUNT.
- Replace the filler line with terms such as “Selected items while stocks last.”
- Swap the QR code for a link to your sale page.
Print Sizes and Stock
At 6 x 2.5 inches, four vouchers fit down a letter sheet with narrow margins. Use 200 to 250 gsm card stock for a firm feel. The large black and red areas need plenty of ink, so test a copy and consider a laser print or a print shop for a long run.
Where to Use It
Give vouchers to loyal customers in the week before the sale, include them with online orders, and hand them to staff at tills. For social media, post a clear image of the voucher with the dates and the web address.
