Teacher Appreciation Week is the one week of the year when schools, families, and students deliberately pause to thank the people at the front of the classroom. Cards, flowers, and treats appear on desks everywhere. A certificate adds something that lasts beyond the week: a keepsake the teacher can pin up, file away, or bring out again on a hard day to remember why the job matters.
A Classic Teacher Motif, Freshly Drawn
This US Letter landscape certificate (11 x 8.5 inches) is printed on a warm cream background with a slim red frame and a fine gold inner line. In the bottom left corner sits the most recognisable teacher symbol of all: a shiny red apple with a brown stem and green leaf, resting on a stack of three books in navy, teal and gold. In the top right corner, a red sash crosses the page diagonally, printed with Appreciation Week in white capitals, like a ribbon on a gift.
The centre of the page is led by a large Thank You in red Great Vibes script, with For all that you do spaced out beneath it and the subtitle Teacher Appreciation Week · Certificate of Appreciation. The teacher’s name is set in bold Playfair Display with a red underline, followed by a short message and two signature lines, one reading With love from Class 7A and one for the Principal.
A Five-Day Appreciation Plan
The certificate works well as the finale of a week of small gestures. Here is a simple plan any class or school can follow.
| Day | Idea | Who organises it |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Decorate the classroom door with thank-you notes | Students |
| Tuesday | Parents send a one-line email of thanks | Class parent representative |
| Wednesday | Staffroom breakfast or coffee cart | PTA or school leaders |
| Thursday | Students write What I learned from you cards | Students |
| Friday | Present this certificate at the end of the day | Class and principal together |
Who Should Sign It?
The most meaningful appreciation certificates come from the students themselves. The template’s first signature line reads With love from Class 7A; change the class name and, after printing, let every student add their signature or initials around the edge of the page. The second line is for the principal, showing that the school also stands behind the thanks. Parent associations can replace either line with The Parents of Room 12 or similar.
Personalising the Message
The sample text thanks the teacher for patience, encouragement and kindness. It is worth rewriting it for each teacher, even briefly. Ask two or three students what they will remember about the year and borrow their words: for making fractions finally make sense, for the best science experiments ever, for always noticing when someone needs a friend. A single genuine line from students outweighs any polished paragraph.
Editing Steps
- Click the teacher’s name and type it in.
- Edit the message under the name.
- Change Class 7A to your class, and the principal’s name to your own.
- If you prefer a different colour scheme, select the red frame, the sash, and the Thank You text, and choose new colours; the apple and books are one grouped illustration that moves as a single object.
- Download a PDF to print or a PNG to send by email if you are thanking a teacher remotely.
Printing the Certificate
Print on US Letter landscape at Actual size, or on A4 using Fit to page. The cream background gives the page a soft, warm look; if your printer struggles with light tints, a plain white cardstock still looks lovely. For a class gift, print on 250 gsm card, roll it and tie it with a red ribbon to echo the sash, or slip it into a simple frame along with a class photo.
When Teacher Appreciation Week Happens
In the United States, Teacher Appreciation Week is held in the first full week of May, with National Teacher Day on the Tuesday. Many other countries celebrate teachers on their own dates, and the United Nations’ World Teachers’ Day falls on 5 October. The certificate’s wording is general enough to use on any of these occasions; just adjust the subtitle to name the day you are celebrating.
Letting Students Decorate the Border
One of the loveliest ways to use this certificate is to leave the space around the frame for students. Print the certificate on heavy card, then pass it around the class during the week. Each student adds their name, a tiny drawing, or a word that describes the teacher: kind, funny, patient, inspiring. Younger children can press a fingerprint in red or green paint to make little apples around the edge. By Friday, the certificate carries the whole class’s personality, and it becomes something the teacher is very unlikely to throw away. Keep the drawings to the margins so the printed name and message stay clear.
If the class is large, give each group of students a corner of the page, or photocopy a second certificate so everyone has room to sign.
Other Ways to Use This Design
Although it is designed for Appreciation Week, the apple-and-books certificate makes an excellent end-of-year thank-you, a farewell gift for a teacher changing classes, or a message from a PTA to all staff. Because every word is editable, you can simply change the subtitle and message while keeping the warm, classic design.
Appreciation Week Certificate Questions

Is the apple an image I can change?
The apple and books are drawn with editable shapes grouped, so you can move, resize, or recolour them.
