Checklist Before You Print
- Pick the paper: white card stock, 250 to 300 gsm, gives the best finish.
- Decide the wording: type the name and message now, or leave the lines for pen.
- Check the border: print one test page to see that the red frame is not cut off.
- Decide on the barcode area: keep the picture, replace it, or delete it.
- Trim along the red border with a ruler and a sharp blade.
What You Get
This is a Free, Classic Christmas Gift Certificate in a wide, ticket-like shape. It measures 6 x 2.24 inches in landscape, which is longer and thinner than most cards, and fits neatly in a business envelope. The white background is framed by a thin red border. Down the left edge is a column of red poinsettia flowers with green leaves. Across the middle, a bold red ribbon is tied in a bow, and the words GIFT and CERTIFICATE sit on each side of the bow in red Western-style lettering.
Below the ribbon are three dotted lines: A certificate, For, and From. On the right edge, there is a vertical barcode picture, and a small stack of wrapped presents sits in the bottom right corner. A red wavy ribbon trims the bottom edge.
Is It Really Free?
Yes. You can open the template, change it, and download it as a PDF, PNG, or JPG without paying or signing up, and you can print as many copies as you need for your own gifts or your business.
Common Questions Along the Way
Does the barcode scan?
No. It is a decorative picture only. If you sell certificates and need real scanning, delete it and put your own code image in the same place, or leave the space for a stamp or a serial number.
Can I change the colours?
You can recolour the red border and the text. The bow, the poinsettias, and the presents are pictures, so they keep their colours, but you can delete any of them if you want a plainer card.
What does the first line mean?
The line labelled A certificate is meant for the gift description, such as a certificate for a haircut or a certificate for one dinner. Retype the label if you prefer another wording.
Who Uses It
Families who want a quick last-minute present, small businesses that do not need a custom brand, and schools running a holiday raffle all use a plain template like this. It is also a good starting point if you want to build your own design, because the structure is simple. Add a logo, change the wording at the top, or pick a different font for the heading.
Finishing the Gift
A long, narrow certificate like this one also works well as a bookmark-style present, or as a tag on a bottle or a basket.
Print, trim, and tuck the certificate into a small envelope or tie it to a present with a ribbon.
