Where This Certificate Gets Used
This certificate shows up at fairs, markets, school fundraisers and small shops. It looks festive from across a table, and it has the line “Sold By” that makes it easy for helpers to record who issued it. Here are the situations it suits best.
The Christmas Market Stall
Stallholders can print a stack, write the amount by hand and sell them from a cash box. The bold look catches attention and the card is small enough to fit in a pocket.
School and Club Fundraisers
Parents’ associations often sell gift certificates for baked goods or a service day, such as car washing. A volunteer fills in A Gift For, From, Sold By and Date, and the Voucher No. at the top right lets the treasurer keep track.
A Local Shop
A shop with a logo can replace the SAMPLE LOGO and put its own contact details in the black bar. The card then works as a branded certificate without any extra design work.
What It Looks Like
The certificate measures 5.28 x 2.38 inches in landscape, a little larger than a credit card. The background is a deep red gradient that fades to black at the top. Across the top hangs a string of colourful bunting flags in pink, orange, blue, green and yellow, with small cross-stitch patterns, and gold stars float in the corners.
In the centre, the line A Christmas Gift For You! appears in gold, with GIFT CERTIFICATE in big white capitals below it. At the lower left, a black ribbon stands upright with $200/- printed along it in white. The four lines, A Gift for, From, Sold By and Date, are in white. At the bottom, the SAMPLE LOGO is on the left and a black bar carries a phone number and email address.
Customising the Value and Details
The ribbon reads $200/-, a notation common in some countries where the dash after the number shows a whole amount. Retype it to your own format, for instance $50 or 50 Euro. Change the phone number and email in the black bar, and replace the SAMPLE LOGO with your own. The bunting, stars and ribbon are artwork pictures and shapes you can leave as they are.
Printing and Cutting
Because it is a bit larger than a credit card, print it on 250 to 300 gsm card stock and trim it with a ruler. Four certificates fit on a letter sheet if you stack them in one column, and they slide easily into an envelope.
Keeping a Simple Record
Use the Voucher No. line and keep a notebook or spreadsheet with the number, the value, the date and the name of the person in the Sold By line. At the end of a market day, count the vouchers sold against the notebook. When a certificate is redeemed, mark it as used and keep the card, so it cannot be spent twice.
