A Teaching Award With Movement
Most teaching awards look like diplomas. This one looks like it is in motion. Flowing yellow waves and fine grey line drawings curve across a pale grey page, and a script heading leans forward as if it is about to take off. It suits schools that want an award that feels creative and warm rather than stiff, and teachers who use art, music or design in their classrooms.
Looking at the Details
The certificate is Letter size landscape, 11 x 8.5 inches. The background is a very light grey. Thick yellow waves swell in from the top left and the bottom right, layered with delicate grey contour lines like the lines of a fingerprint. Small crosses, dots and a black triangle dot the page like markings on a graph. A solid yellow vertical bar runs down the right edge.
At the top left, a SAMPLE LOGO sits in a white pill shape. The heading Certificate is written in a large black brush script, with Of Excellence on a yellow tab beneath it, set in Great Vibes and Inter. On the left, a medal on a yellow ribbon hangs near the top. Below, This is to certify that introduces the name, written in an elegant script as Teacher’s Name. Then has been recognized for, followed by Excellence in Teaching in yellow, and a sentence about nurturing young minds, inspiring learning and shaping the future. Date and Authorized Signature lines, and a bracketed name and title, close the page.
Wording for a Creative Classroom
The script and the waves suggest creativity, so write a citation that matches. For example: “For turning the classroom into a studio of ideas, where every student feels free to experiment.” Or: “For bringing music into every lesson and helping children find their voice.” Keep to two lines.
Handling the Yellow
Yellow can look weak on some printers. Print a test copy and compare. If the Excellence in Teaching line is hard to read, change its colour to a darker gold or brown in the editor. Text colour changes affect only the writing, so the page keeps its bright waves.
Presentation Ideas
- Give the certificate with a hand written letter from a student.
- Display it at the school entrance for a week before it goes home.
- Print copies for the staff room and for the teacher’s file.
- Share a photo with the school newsletter, with the teacher’s permission.
Print Notes
Light grey backgrounds can show faint lines on cheap printers. Use a good quality setting and matte paper of 120 to 200 gsm. The artwork reaches the edge of the page, so use Fit to page at home.
Matching It to Your Classroom Colours
If the teacher is known for a favourite colour or theme, mention it in the presentation. Yellow is cheerful and usually welcome. Some schools print an extra copy to display on a noticeboard, with the teacher’s permission, so students and parents can read the citation.
