Teacher Appreciation Week Starts Here
Every school has a week, a day or an afternoon when students and parents say thank you to teachers. Flowers, cards and baked goods arrive, and sometimes a certificate. This one is warm, bold and easy to produce for a whole staff, which makes it a good choice for a class, a PTA committee or a school office.
A Bold Orange Frame
The certificate is Letter size landscape, 11 x 8.5 inches. A thick orange border surrounds a cream coloured panel with cut corners, and short black tabs mark the left and right edges, like bookmarks. At the top right, a crest with an open book, a laurel wreath and a ribbon sits beside the words School Name. A paler copy of the crest acts as a watermark in the lower left.
The heading TEACHER APPRECIATION is set in heavy orange capitals, with CERTIFICATE in black beneath it. Then comes Presented to, followed by Teacher’s Name in orange. A paragraph says: in recognition of your dedication, hard work, and commitment to inspiring and educating students. Your contributions have made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students. A line reads Awarded this Day of Month, Year. At the bottom, Principal’s Name or School Authority is printed above the word Position in orange.
Two Ways to Use It
From the school
The principal signs it and presents it in assembly. The wording is already written for the school as the giver.
From the class or the parents
Change the signature block to read Class 5B or Parents Association. Edit the last line to say Presented by the students of Year 5, and add a short message from the class. Children enjoy contributing a sentence each.
Making One Per Teacher
If you give a certificate to every teacher, save one file per name and keep the wording different in each. A short, specific sentence beats a copy of the same paragraph. For example, “for making fractions fun” or “for the Friday morning book club.”
Printing the Orange Frame
- Cream looks best on ivory or off white paper, but bright white also works.
- Print on 120 to 200 gsm matte paper.
- Test the orange border, which may need a quality setting of Best.
- Use Fit to page if the orange touches the edge.
Making Appreciation Week Easy for Parents
Parent committees can use this certificate to organise appreciation week without extra design work. Print one for every teacher, decide a theme for each day, and use the certificate on the last day as the formal thank you. A short note from the class helps. Children can draw on the back, which turns a printed certificate into a keepsake. The principal can sign them all in one go, so that no teacher is missed.
Handling the Cut Corners
The cream panel has cut corners, which gives it a slightly modern look. Keep text inside the panel, away from the corners. If you add a longer message, reduce the font size by a point or two so nothing touches the orange edge.
A teacher leaving after many years may prefer the retirement recognition certificate, and a single top honour is covered by the Teacher of the Year certificate. More designs are listed on the appreciation and award certificates page.
