Santa, Silver and Ice Blue
Red Santas on red cards are easy to find. This certificate gives the old fellow a cool new setting: a pale, icy blue background scattered with tiny stars, silver baubles hanging on thin strings, and a big metallic star in the corner. It feels crisp and wintry, and it makes a cartoon Santa look fresh.
Looking at the Layout
The certificate measures 8.5 x 4 inches in landscape. On the left edge, three silver ornaments dangle from threads: two round baubles with snowflake patterns, plus a snowflake charm and a small star. A larger silver star rests below them. In the centre, the greeting MERRY CHRISTMAS is written in letters with red caps and white outlines, with tiny Santa hats perched on top of some letters. Below it comes A GIFT FOR YOU, with GIFT in red.
On the right stands Santa himself, in a red suit with white trim, black boots and a belt with a gold buckle. He holds up a small blue gift with a red ribbon in one hand and opens the other as if offering it. The form is quite compact: To and From share a line near the middle, and Amount and Signature sit beneath them.
A Section for Each Kind of Giver
For families
Write the name of the child on the To line and the promise on the Amount line, for example “One trip to the cinema.” Sign it as Santa or as a parent.
For clubs and classes
Print a stack, type a reward such as Choose a Book on the Amount line, and hand them out at the party.
For small businesses
Add a dollar value and your signature. The cool blue colour looks clean next to a till, and the card is easy to read from across a counter.
Which Parts of the Santa Card Are Text
The prompts (Recipient Name), (Sender Name) and ($) appear in red and can be replaced. Everything with a label is text. The lettering, the ornaments and Santa are pictures, so to change the greeting you would replace the lettering with your own text.
Paper and Printing
Pale blue prints well on bright white card stock, 250 to 300 gsm. Test one copy for the exact shade, since light blues can turn grey on some printers. The 8.5 inch width is the full width of a letter sheet, so choose Fit to page for a safe margin or trim a larger sheet.
Making a Santa Card for a Child
A cartoon Santa with a present suits a child, so think of a promise a child would value, such as a trip to the playground or a baking afternoon together. Write it in large letters on the Amount line, and ask the child to fill the Signature line. Children love to hold something official, and the shiny silver baubles on the left make the card feel special.
