A Tribute That Names Who He Was
Most memorial cards state a name and a date. This one adds a sentence of character: With heavy hearts, we honor the life of Daniel Harris, a devoted father, cherished friend, and a kind soul who touched many lives. Those words give a face and a personality to the name. They suit a man who was known as a father and a friend, and they can be rewritten for a mother, a sister, a mentor or a neighbour.
Blue Washes and an Arched Portrait
The card is 650 x 800 pixels in portrait. The background is white with deep blue watercolour washes in the top left and lower right corners, splashed with tiny white speckles, and with fine white outlines of monstera leaves drawn over the blue. At the top, In Loving Memory of is written in a navy script that curves upward. Below it, a portrait of a grey haired man in a grey suit, adjusting his bow tie, is cut into an arch shape with a soft blurred background.
The name DANIEL HARRIS is in bold navy capitals, with the dates in a deep blue bar, in white type: (July 8, 1962 to February 18, 2026) in the sample. The paragraph below has the tribute sentence, then a bold line: You will always be remembered, lovingly missed, and forever in our hearts. The fonts are Dosis and Pacifico.
Rewrite the Tribute for Your Person
Use this short formula: name, relationship, two or three qualities, effect on others. For example: “With heavy hearts, we honor the life of Margaret Ellis, a loving mother, a generous neighbour and a woman who made every guest feel at home.” Or: “We honor Tom Reyes, a patient teacher, a keen gardener and a friend to everyone on our street.”
- Choose qualities the family would recognise.
- Avoid long lists of titles or achievements.
- Keep it to two lines, so the text stays readable at phone size.
Replacing the Arched Photograph
Click the picture and use Replace Image. The arch crops the top of the head into a curve, so choose a photograph with a little room above the head, and a face that is not too small. A portrait with a soft background suits the watercolour look best.
Using It for a Group or an Organisation
The card also suits a club or workplace sharing news about a member. Change the sentence to speak for the group: “With heavy hearts, the Harbour Rowing Club honors the life of Daniel Harris, a founding member and a kind friend.” Keep the bold last line, which fits any group.
A Note About Dates
The dates sit in a bar with a small bracket on each end. When you replace them, keep the same pattern so the bar stays tidy, and write the month in words to avoid confusion between day and month formats. If the family prefers not to show dates, delete the bar and move the name a little lower.
Sharing
Download as PNG or JPG to share by phone, email or a memorial page. If you plan to print, use a small size, as the image is designed for screens. A PDF download is useful if you want to attach it to a longer notice.
