Gifts That Keep Giving
A subscription is a gift that arrives again and again: a streaming service, a magazine, a meal box, a software plan, a monthly flower delivery. The difficulty is that the buyer needs to say what the recipient gets and for how long. This certificate is built around those answers. It has special fields for the service, the duration and the dates, so the details are printed, not remembered.
A Closer Look at the Design
The certificate is 3.375 x 2.125 inches in landscape, the size of a credit card. The background is a deep red with faint diagonal stripes. A broad gold stripe and a white stripe sweep down the left side from the top, edged with metallic shine. Three red and white zigzag baubles hang from silver threads at the top left, which gives the card a festive feel. At the top right, a round logo placeholder sits above the words COMPANY LOGO.
The title Subscription Service is written in a golden script, and GIFT CERTIFICATE is printed below in white capitals, followed by CONGRATULATIONS! in gold. In the lower area, five lines run in rows: To: Recipient’s Name, From: Sender’s Name, Service Name, Subscription Duration, Start Date and Expiry Date.
Fix the Start Date Label
The template shows “Strat Date” with a typing slip. Click the label in the editor and correct it to Start Date. The same line contains a placeholder date format that you replace with a real one.
Filling the Subscription Fields
| Field | Example entry |
|---|---|
| Service Name | Monthly Flower Box |
| Subscription Duration | 6 months |
| Start Date | 2 January |
| Expiry Date | Redeem by 28 February |
Keep the difference clear: the expiry date is the last day to claim the gift, while the duration describes the length of the service once it starts.
Festive or Year-Round?
The baubles make this card feel seasonal, which suits sales in December. If you want a card for the rest of the year, click the baubles and delete them, and the stripes still make a smart design. The deep red also suits Valentine’s Day.
Tips for Subscription Businesses
- Say whether the subscription renews automatically after the gift period.
- Give the redemption website or code on the back.
- Offer a printable version at checkout and an emailed image.
- Keep a log of start dates so reminders can be sent.
Printing Deep Red and Gold Without Browning
Dark red and gold look best on matte or silk card stock between 250 and 300 gsm. Test one copy for the red, which can turn brown on some printers. Slip the certificate into a small envelope with a short note.
Examples of Services People Gift as Subscriptions
- Meal kits delivered weekly.
- Streaming services for movies or music.
- Magazines and newsletters.
- Software plans and online courses.
- Flower, coffee or snack boxes.
Give each one a clear name in the Service Name line. For many services, the recipient needs a code or a link to activate the gift, so write it on the back of the card or in a separate note.
For other service gifts, see the personalized service certificate or the online shopping certificate. The rest of the range is in gift certificates and vouchers.
