Valentine’s Day is about love letters, and this place card is one. When it stands on the table, the front looks like the back of an envelope: a pink triangular flap falls from the top edge, sealed with a red wax seal pressed with a heart, and the guest’s name is written below as if addressed by hand. The back of the card is a soft pink pattern of overlapping circles, like delicate stationery. It is romantic, witty, and perfect for Valentine’s dinners, Galentine’s brunches, and anniversary celebrations.
An Envelope, Sealed With a Heart
The card is 3.5 x 4 inches flat and folds into a 3.5 x 2 inch tent. The front is a pale blush-cream, like envelope paper. From the fold, a pink triangular flap points down to the middle of the card, with a soft shadow beneath it so it looks lifted from the paper. Two faint lines run up from the bottom corners, like the seams of an envelope. At the point of the flap, a round red wax seal with a darker inner ring carries a cream heart. Below it, Sweetheart table is written in rose italic, and the name Isabelle is set in large deep red Great Vibes script. The back is pink with a rose pattern of overlapping circles and the logo in deep red.
The Back Pattern Is Editable
The overlapping circles on the back are the editor’s built-in Overlapping Circles background texture in rose pink. To change it, open Backgrounds and choose Pattern: you can recolour it red or gold, make the circles bigger or smaller, fade it, or replace it with another pattern, such as Polka Dots or Lips for a playful party. The envelope front covers the pattern, so it shows only on the back.

Personalising the Envelope
Click the red name and type your guest’s name. Great Vibes is graceful and suits short names especially well; for longer names, reduce the size so the name fits comfortably below the seal. Edit the small italic line, then download the card. For a dinner for two, make one card for each of you with your partner’s pet name for you on the other’s card; it is a sweet surprise.
The Wax Seal
The seal is made of three simple shapes: a red circle, a darker ring, and a cream heart. Recolour the circle to gold, burgundy or black for different moods, or change the heart to an initial by deleting it and adding a letter in a script font. A monogram seal with the couple’s initials is lovely for an anniversary.
Colour Schemes for Romantic Occasions
Pink and red are classic Valentine’s, but the envelope design works in many palettes. Ivory and gold feel like wedding stationery; black and red look dramatic for a dinner at a steakhouse; lilac and silver are soft and modern; kraft and red feel rustic and handmade. Change the front panel, the flap colour and the canvas background, then the seal and text.
Printing Pinks and Reds
Print on bright white cardstock to keep the blush soft and the red true. A smooth matte stock of about 100 lb cover gives clean edges to the flap and seal. The flap’s shadow prints best at normal or high quality. Print a test first, since reds can shift towards orange on some inkjets.
Folding So the Flap Opens From the Top
Trim to 3.5 x 4 inches and score along the fold, where the flap begins. Fold with the envelope front facing out. On the standing card, the flap starts right at the top edge, completing the illusion of an envelope.
Setting a Romantic Table
Red roses in low vases, tea lights in pink glass, a white tablecloth scattered with rose petals, crystal glasses, and chocolates on each plate create a romantic table. For a dinner for two, place a single rose across each plate with the card standing behind it.
A Love-Note Surprise
Because the card looks like an envelope, it invites a hidden message. Before folding, write a short love note on the inside of the card, the part that is hidden when it stands. After dinner, invite your guest to open it. For a Galentine’s party, ask each friend to write a compliment for the person seated beside them.
Anniversaries, Showers and Other Love-Letter Events
Use the design for wedding rehearsal dinners, engagement dinners, Mother’s Day lunches, love letter-themed bridal showers, and wedding anniversaries. Change the small line to suit.
Hosting a Valentine’s Dinner Party for Friends
Valentine’s dinners are not only for couples. Many people host a dinner for friends, singles, and couples together, a warm alternative to crowded restaurants. Seat couples apart to mix conversation, pair talkative guests with quieter ones, and give everyone an envelope card with a compliment written inside by the host. Heart-shaped pizzas, a chocolate fondue, and a playlist of love songs make it a relaxed, memorable night.
Valentine’s Card Questions
Can I put the couple’s initials on the seal?
Yes. Delete the heart and add the initials in a small script font.
Why can’t I select the circles on the back?
The circles form a locked page texture, adjustable under Backgrounds in the Pattern tab.
What size is the folded card?
3.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall.
Can I add a stamp to the envelope?
Yes. Draw a small rectangle in a corner of the front and put a tiny heart inside it to look like a postage stamp.
Does the flap print with a shadow?
Yes, a soft shadow sits under the flap so it looks lifted from the paper.
Is the envelope only for couples?
Not at all. Friends, family, and colleagues all enjoy finding a love letter with their name at a Valentine’s table.
