A baby girl shower deserves something a little sweet and a little playful. This place card looks like a tiny piece of nursery fabric: a pink scalloped edge along the top like the trim of a bib, a stitched dashed border, a heart, a pink rattle, and a colourful baby bottle. The guest’s name sits in the middle in cheerful script, and it’s a girl! is tucked in gold at the bottom. On the back, white polka dots dance on soft pink, a classic nursery pattern that guests across the table will see.
Bib Scallops, a Stitched Border and Nursery Icons
Flat, the card is 3.5 x 4 inches; folded, it stands 3.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall. The front is white. Right below the fold, a pink band ends in a row of round scallops, so when the card is folded, the pink wraps over the top edge like the trimmed collar of a baby bib. A dashed pink line with rounded corners frames the centre, like stitching on a quilt. A small pink heart sits at the top of that frame. The name, Mia Thompson, is set in bold Dancing Script in a deep plum, with Table 1 in spaced pink capitals underneath. In the lower left, a pink line-drawn rattle leans inward; in the lower right, a little blue and pink baby bottle leans the other way. It’s a girl! sits at the very bottom in gold script.
The Polka-Dot Back Is an Editor Texture
The white dots on the back come from the editor’s background Pattern feature, using the built-in Polka Dots pattern in white over a pink page colour. This makes the dots easy to change. Open Backgrounds, go to Pattern, and use the colour, size, and opacity controls to make the dots larger, gold, or more subtle. You can choose another pattern entirely, such as Hexagons or Tiny Checkers, or remove it. The white front panel covers the pattern, so the dots appear only on the back.
Writing Each Guest’s Name in the Stitched Frame
- Click the plum name and type your guest’s name.
- Edit or delete the table line.
- Keep it’s a girl! Or replace it with the baby’s name if it has been announced.
- Download, then move on to the next guest.
Dancing Script is relaxed and readable; names up to about fourteen characters fit inside the stitched frame. For longer names, reduce the size slightly.

The Rattle, Bottle and Heart
The rattle is an outline illustration tinted pink, the bottle a full-colour illustration, and the heart a simple shape. All of them can be moved, resized, recoloured, or deleted. If you prefer a calmer card, delete the bottle and keep only the rattle and heart. For twins, copy the rattle to the other side and use two hearts.
Pink, Peach or Lilac
Pink is traditional, but many parents prefer softer or less expected colours. Change the page colour behind the dots to peach, lilac or a dusty rose, then update the scallop band, frame line and table text to match. The polka-dot texture stays white on top of whatever colour you choose. For a modern take, try a pale terracotta with cream dots.
Printing the Scallops and Stitching
Thin dashed lines and small scallops print best at normal or high quality on a smooth cardstock; draft mode can break the dashes. Bright white matte card keeps the pink true. Print one test card, check the dot pattern on the back, then print the rest.
Folding: So the Scallops Wrap the Top
Trim to 3.5 x 4 inches. Score along the middle of the pink band, right above the scallops, and fold with the white front facing out. The scallops then sit just below the folded edge, and the pink band appears to wrap over the top of the card.
Baby Girl Shower Styling
Pink and white balloons, a dessert table with pink macarons and strawberry cupcakes, white plates with gold cutlery and small bouquets of pink spray roses make a lovely table. A favour beside each card, such as a pink candle, a bath bomb or a cookie decorated like a onesie, completes the setting.
Thoughtful Seating for a Shower
Seat the mother-to-be where she can see everyone, with her own mother and closest friends nearby. Mix guests from work, family, and friends at each table so they get to know each other, and keep expectant and new mothers together; they will have plenty to talk about. Place cards make this kind of considerate seating possible.
Beyond Baby Showers
The card also suits a baby girl’s first birthday, a christening lunch, a sip-and-see party, and a sprinkle for a second baby. Change It’s a girl! to the event name.
Turning Place Cards Into a Keepsake
After the shower, collect the place cards and keep them for the baby. Some parents punch a hole in each and tie them into a small booklet with ribbon; others slip them into a baby memory box. If you ask guests to write a wish or a piece of advice on the back of their card before leaving, the cards become a heartfelt record of everyone who celebrated the baby before she arrived. Provide a few pens at each table and a pretty basket by the door to collect them.
