Nothing dampens a party like guests circling the block, calling for directions, or wandering around the wrong side of a building. A big, bright direction sign fixes that instantly, and it adds to the fun before anyone even reaches the door. This Party This Way Sign Template makes the whole sign one giant arrow, with a bunch of balloons tied to its tail and PARTY THIS WAY written across it, so there is no doubt at all which way to go.
One Big Arrow Does the Talking
The sign is 24 x 18 inches in landscape, the standard size for corrugated plastic yard signs, so it fits common wire stakes. The page is a soft cream, and almost all of it is filled by a bold purple arrow pointing right, with a wide shaft and a big triangular head. A yellow dashed line runs just inside the arrow’s edge, like stitching, and gives the shape a crafted, party-decoration feel.
Across the shaft, PARTY is set in large yellow Bungee capitals, a chunky display typeface that reads well from far away, with THIS WAY below in white and Emma’s 30th in pink Pacifico script. Tied to the tail of the arrow is a bunch of pink, purple, and orange balloons, their strings gathering at the arrow’s corner. Confetti in yellow, pink, blue, and orange is scattered above and below. Along the bottom, three purple chevrons in fading shades lead the eye to the right beside Parking in the back · Follow the balloons!, and our logo sits at the far right in purple.
Left, Right, Straight On
You will usually need signs pointing in different directions. The arrow shape, the dashed outline, and the chevrons can all be flipped. Here is a simple way to make a full set:
- Finish the sign with your wording and download it; this is your right-pointing version.
- Select the arrow and the dashed outline together and choose Flip Horizontal. Move the balloons to the new tail on the right side and download again for a left-pointing sign.
- For straight ahead, rotate the arrow and outline 90 degrees to point up, then rearrange the text to fit the vertical shaft, or simply print the right-pointing sign and mount it rotated on its stake.
The text boxes stay upright when you flip the arrow, so the words always read correctly.
Route Planning for Guests
| Location | Arrow direction | Suggested extra line |
|---|---|---|
| Main road turn-off | Toward your street | Emma’s party · next left |
| Each junction after that | Following the route | Keep going! |
| Driveway or car park | Toward parking | Parking in the back |
| Garden gate or side door | Toward the entrance | Party in the garden |
Drive the route yourself before the party and note every place a guest might hesitate. That is where a sign belongs.

Click each line to retype it. Bungee is wide, so keep the first line to five or six letters; for longer words, reduce the font size slightly.
Colours That Match Your Theme
Purple and yellow are playful and highly visible, but the arrow recolours in one click. Try teal for a baby shower, navy and gold for an elegant milestone birthday, green for a garden party, or school colours for a graduation. The balloons are an editable vector with their own colour swatches, so you can match them to the real balloons at the party. The confetti is grouped and recolours as one piece.
Printing and Setting Up Direction Signs
Download the PDF and order corrugated plastic signs at 24 x 18 inches with H-stakes; they are waterproof and easy to push into a verge or lawn. If you want the sign cut to the arrow shape, ask your print shop about contour cutting. For signs on fences or posts, zip ties through two punched holes hold them securely. A US Letter print, scaled to fit, works for indoor directions inside a venue, such as a hotel corridor or a community hall. Put the signs out an hour before guests arrive, and tie a real balloon to each stake for extra visibility.
Signs Around Public Roads
Many towns restrict temporary signs on public land, road verges, utility poles and traffic sign posts. Where possible, place signs on private property with the owner’s permission, such as a friend’s lawn on the corner. Always collect every sign after the party; leaving them out is a common complaint and can lead to fines in some areas.
Making the Arrow Easy to Read
A direction sign has one job, and every design choice should support it. Keep the text short so it can be large; a driver needs to read it while turning. Keep strong contrast between the arrow and its lettering, which is why the sample uses yellow and white on deep purple. Leave the head of the arrow empty of text, because the eye reads the shape first and the words second. And place the sign so the arrow points along the real route, not at a confusing angle: if the turn is just after the sign, say so with a line such as Turn here. For evening parties, a battery-powered string of fairy lights wrapped around the stake makes the sign visible after dark and looks festive too.
Arrow Sign Questions
Can I add the address?
Yes. Replace Emma’s 30th with the house number and street, or add it under the parking line at the bottom.
Can the balloons be removed?
Select and delete them. The arrow still works on its own, and you can move the text further left into the space.
Can I make the sign smaller?
Print it on US Letter or 12 x 18 inches; the whole design scales proportionally.
