For Makers Who Sell Their Own Work
If you sell candles, knitwear, pottery, jewellery or any other handmade goods, you know customers often want to give your work to someone else. A gift certificate lets them do that without guessing a size or a colour. This card is made for craft stalls, online shops and fairs, and it has a friendly, hand-cut look that suits the products.
Reading the Card
The certificate is 3.375 x 2.125 inches in landscape, the size of a credit card. The outer border is a bright mint green decorated with a white leaf pattern. Inside it sits a white panel with softly torn edges, like a piece of paper cut by hand. Along the top of the panel, small dark capitals read STORE NAME | WWW.STORENAME.COM.
On the left, the words Handmade Craft are written in a coral script, with GIFT CERTIFICATE under them in bold teal capitals. Three lines follow: Presented to, From and Certificate Number, each with a grey bracketed prompt. At the bottom, a line of thanks supports handmade craft. On the right, a coral pot holds a bouquet of coral, grey and black flowers and leaves.
One Small Wording Fix
The thank-you line at the bottom currently contains a typing slip, “Thnak you.” Click it in the editor and correct it to “Thank you for supporting handmade craft!” before you print. It is a quick edit that makes the card look careful, which matters for a shop built on care.
Setting Up Your Version
- Replace STORE NAME and the web address with your own.
- Change Handmade Craft to what you make, for example Handmade Soap or Hand-Knit.
- Fill the Certificate Number line with a unique number or code.
- Print blank for fair sales, or type names in advance for online orders.
Selling Certificates at a Craft Fair
At a market stall, a basket of ready-printed certificates next to the till sells itself, especially in the weeks before holidays. Fill in the Presented to and From lines at the table, and note the number in a notebook. State the expiry, since fairs and online sales may run on different calendars.
Print Details
The mint and coral colours look best on bright white card stock. Use 250 to 300 gsm, and keep a few sheets in a folder away from damp. The torn-paper edge is part of the picture, so trim along the outer mint border, not along the white panel.
Photographing Your Certificate for Social Media
The mint border and the coral pot photograph beautifully on a wooden table or a linen cloth. Post a picture of your certificate next to your products to tell followers that gift certificates are available. Mention the validity period and how to order one by message or from your website. For an online shop, you can also attach the downloaded PNG to an order confirmation email.
For a craft shop that sells home goods, look at the custom home decor gift certificate. For a general shop version, try the retail store gift certificate. More are listed in gift certificates and vouchers.
