For many families, Christmas Day at Grandma’s is the anchor of the whole season: aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren crowding around one table, the same stories told every year, and far too much food. The invitation can be as warm as the day itself. This landscape 7 x 5 inch template hangs three family photos on a twine line with red clothespins, like holiday cards strung across a mantel, above hand-drawn Amatic SC lettering that reads Christmas Day at Grandma’s.

Three Photos, Many Memories

The three photo frames are the heart of this design. Each is a white print frame with a soft shadow, tilted at a slightly different angle, hanging from a brown twine line that sags gently across the top of the card. A red clothespin holds each one. The frames are pattern-filled shapes, so you click each one and choose Replace Image to add your own photos. Good choices are a picture from last year’s Christmas, an old photo of Grandma and Grandpa, and a recent picture of the grandchildren, which tells the story of a family through the years. Mixing old and new photos makes relatives smile before they read a word.

Wording for a Family Christmas Day

The sample reads Christmas Day at Grandma’s in red, then Friday, December 25, Lunch at 1 PM, and the address. A green italic line adds Bring your appetite, your stories, and something for the dessert table, and a final line asks guests to let Aunt Mary know who is coming. This wording is friendly, specific, and practical. You might adapt it in several ways: Christmas at the Johnson house, Christmas lunch with the whole family, or Our first Christmas hosting, come one, come all. Keep the title short so it stays on one line.

Coordinating a Big Family Christmas

Hosting the whole family on Christmas Day takes planning. Ask who is coming as early as possible, including partners and new babies, so you know how many seats and plates you need. Share out the cooking: the host often prepares the main roast, while others bring sides, desserts, and drinks. Decide on a gift plan; many large families draw names for a single gift each, or only buy for the children. Agree on arrival and meal times, especially if some relatives are visiting other homes the same day.

Making Space for Everyone

Big family gatherings often need extra tables and chairs. Borrow folding tables from neighbours or hire them, and use tablecloths to make mismatched tables look like one long table. Set up a separate children’s table with crackers, colouring sheets and simple games. Create a quiet corner for older relatives or anyone who needs a break from the noise. Make sure coats have a place to go, and there is room for prams and wheelchairs.

Editing the Family Gathering Invitation

Click each text line to change it. Replace the photos in the three frames. The clothespins and twine are simple shapes that can be recoloured; green pins or gold twine work well. The holly sprigs in the bottom corners are editable vectors. The kraft cream background can be changed to white, pale green, or pale red by clicking it.

Choosing the Right Photos

Each frame is roughly square, so square or slightly landscape photos fit best. Crop photos before uploading so faces are near the centre. Use the original files from a phone or camera rather than images saved from messaging apps, which are compressed. For old printed photos, scan them or take a clear photo of them in good daylight. Black and white photos look beautiful next to colour ones and add a sense of history.

Printing the Three Photo Family Card

Download a PDF or a high-quality JPG and print at 7 x 5 inches. Because of the photos, a photo lab or a print service with photo card stock gives the best result. Order full bleed so the background reaches the edges. Older relatives often love receiving a printed card in the post, and many will keep it as a keepsake.

Sending It to the Family Group

Download a JPG and send it in the family group chat. Ask everyone to reply with who is coming and what they will bring, and update a simple list. For relatives who do not use messaging apps, post a printed copy or call them.

Keeping Traditions Alive

Family gatherings are where traditions live: the same carol after lunch, a walk before dessert, the family quiz, the crackers and paper hats. Mention one on the invitation, for example, annual family quiz after lunch, to build excitement. Take a group photo every year in the same spot, and use it in next year’s invitation, so the card becomes part of the tradition.

Family Gathering Questions

Can I use only one photo?

Yes. Delete two frames and their pins, and enlarge the remaining frame.

Can I change Grandma’s to another name?

Yes. Click the title and type, for example, Christmas Day at the Garcias’.

Is Christmas Day a Friday in 2026?

Yes, December 25, 2026 is a Friday, so many families plan a long weekend together.

Planning the Christmas Day Schedule

A large family Christmas Day runs more smoothly with a loose plan. Many families gather in the late morning for coffee and gifts for the children, eat the main meal around one or two o’clock, take a walk or play games in the afternoon, and finish with tea, cake and leftovers in the evening. Share the plan in the family group a week before, so everyone knows when to arrive and when the meal will be served. Ask a couple of relatives to help with washing up between courses, so the host can sit down and enjoy the meal too. A relaxed schedule leaves space for the unplanned moments, the stories, the laughter and the naps on the sofa, which are often the best part of the day.

Remembering Those Who Cannot Come

Not everyone can travel at Christmas. If some relatives will be missing, you might add a video call to the afternoon, so they can see everyone gathered around the table, or include a photo of them in one of the three frames on the invitation as a way of saying they are part of the celebration even from far away.

Gather Everyone Around the Table

Choose three photos that tell your family’s story, fill in the details, and send the invitation. It is the first thing that brings everyone together, long before the turkey comes out of the oven.
