Children’s Christmas parties are pure joy: crafts, cookies, games and, if you are lucky, a visit from Santa himself. Whether it is a community centre party, a school event, a church family afternoon or a gathering at home, the invitation should make children squeal with excitement and give parents every detail they need. This 5 x 7 inch design does both. It shows a jolly Santa waving and a sweet little reindeer standing on a bright red background with white polka dots, above a big white panel with rounded corners that holds all the information.

What Children Notice and What Parents Need

Children see the characters first. Santa in his red suit and the reindeer with a red scarf and rosy cheeks sit at the top of the card, cheerful and friendly. The polka dot background feels playful and bright. Candy canes in the bottom corners add a final festive note. Parents read the white panel. It tells them it is a kids’ Christmas party, lists the activities, gives the date and time on a sunny yellow banner, names the venue and address, and finishes with the age range, the cost, and who to contact. Keeping all the details in one clear panel means parents can find them at a glance.

Planning a Kids’ Christmas Party

A two-hour party suits most children aged three to ten. A simple, tried and tested plan:

  • Arrival and colouring: as children arrive, they colour Christmas pictures or decorate paper crowns at a craft table.
  • Cookie decorating: plain sugar cookies with icing tubes and sprinkles; children take their cookie home in a bag.
  • Games: musical statues to Christmas songs, pass the parcel, pin the nose on the reindeer, or a snowball toss with soft balls.
  • Snack time: sandwiches cut into star shapes, fruit, popcorn, and juice.
  • Santa’s visit: each child gets a moment with Santa and a small gift.
  • Goodbye: a party bag with a candy cane and a small toy.

Arranging a Visit From Santa

Santa is the highlight, so plan the visit carefully. Ask a trusted adult volunteer to dress up, or book a professional through a reputable agency, and check any safeguarding requirements for your venue. Give Santa a list of children’s names so he can greet each one personally. Prepare wrapped gifts with name labels, all similar in size and value so nobody feels left out. Keep the visit short and gentle for very young children, who may be shy, and never pressure a child to sit on Santa’s lap. A photo of each child with Santa makes a lovely keepsake for parents.

Editing the Kids’ Party Details

Click Kids’ Christmas Party to change the title, for example, to Little Elves Party or Class Christmas Party. Edit the activities line to match your plan. Change the date in the yellow banner; the sample is Saturday, December 12, 2 to 4 PM. Replace the venue and address, and update the age range, cost, and RSVP details at the bottom of the panel. The sample says Ages 3 to 10, Free, RSVP to Ms. Lopez, which suits a community or school party.

Safety and Supervision

When many children gather, plan for safety. Have enough adults to supervise every activity, especially crafts with scissors and anything involving food. Ask parents about allergies when they reply, and label snacks. Keep a first aid kit handy. Decide whether parents stay or drop off, and say so on your RSVP message. If photos will be taken and shared, ask parents for permission first.

Recolouring the Card

The red background and white dots can be changed. Click the background to change the red to green, blue, or purple. The dots are grouped and can be recoloured or removed. Santa, the reindeer and the candy canes are editable vectors with their own colour swatches. The yellow date banner can be changed to any bright colour; keep strong contrast with the text inside it.

Party Bags and Gifts

Small take-home bags make children feel special. Fill them with a candy cane, a Christmas sticker sheet, a small toy, a cookie they decorated, and a colouring page. For a school or community party, keep gifts equal and inexpensive, and consider non-sweet options for children with dietary restrictions.

Printing Invitations for Children

Download a PDF and print on 5 x 7 card with full bleed, or print two per letter sheet at home and trim. Bright red prints well on most printers. For a classroom, check the school’s policy on party invitations; many prefer invitations to go to the whole class. Write each child’s name on an envelope for a personal touch.

Sending It to Parents

Download a JPG and send it in parent groups or by email. Include the RSVP deadline and any extra details, such as whether siblings are welcome, in the message text.

Kids’ Party Questions

Can I add a child’s photo?

Replace one of the characters with a circle from the Elements panel and use Replace Image.

Can I use it for a birthday in December?

Yes. Change the title to the child’s name and Christmas Birthday Party.

Can I remove the polka dots?

Yes. Select the dots group and delete it for a plain red background.

Crafts Children Love at Christmas

A craft table keeps children busy as they arrive and gives shy children something to focus on. Simple crafts work best for mixed ages: paper plate Santa faces with cotton wool beards, paper chains in red and green, salt dough ornaments that dry at home, and handprint reindeer cards. Lay out everything in advance on a wipeable tablecloth, with one helper per table. Let each child take their creation home in a named bag, because many parents treasure these little handmade decorations for years and bring them out every December.

Make the Season Magical for Little Ones

Plan the games, book Santa, and send the invitation. For many children, a Christmas party with friends and a visit from Santa is the moment the holiday truly begins.
