A Thanksgiving card is a small, generous gesture. It arrives before the busiest weeks of the year, asks for nothing, and simply tells someone you are grateful they are in your life. This Happy Thanksgiving Greeting Card gives you a polished front and a ready-written inside, so all you need to add is your signature and perhaps one line of your own.
Thanksgiving Card Wording for Every Recipient
The hardest part of any card is the message, so let’s start there. The inside verse on this card reads: Wishing you a table full of good food, a home full of warmth, and a heart full of thanks. Under it, a short line says, So grateful to share another year with you. You can keep both, or swap the second line for something more specific to the person receiving the card.
| Recipient | Personal line to add |
|---|---|
| Parents or grandparents | Thank you for every Thanksgiving you cooked for us. |
| A friend far away | Saving you a seat and a slice of pie for next year. |
| A neighbour | We are so lucky to live next door to you. |
| A mentor or boss | Grateful for your guidance and patience this year. |
| A client or customer | Thank you for trusting us with your business. |
| Someone grieving | Thinking of you and holding you close this Thanksgiving. |
The Front: a Harvest Still Life in a Circle
The card is 5 x 7 inches, portrait. The front has a deep teal background with a thin mustard-gold rule running round the edge, inset slightly, like the border on a fine notecard. In the upper half sits a large cream circle with a second fine gold ring just inside it. Inside the circle is a small autumn still life: a white heirloom pumpkin on the left, a big round orange pumpkin in the middle, and a small orange squash on the right, all standing on the same line, with a golden oak leaf, a green maple leaf, and a cluster of dark red berries tucked behind them.
Below the circle, Happy and Thanksgiving are set in large italic Playfair Display in cream, and WITH LOVE AND GRATITUDE runs underneath in spaced mustard capitals. The brand mark sits small and muted near the bottom edge.
Teal is an unexpected choice for Thanksgiving, which is why it works. Orange pumpkins glow against it, and the card stands out on a mantel full of brown and burgundy cards.
The Inside: Verse, Sign-Off and a Teal Foot
The second page is the inside of the card, on warm cream. Three small leaves sit at the top: a golden oak leaf, a yellow leaf, and a green maple leaf in a little cluster. The verse is set in italic Cormorant Garamond in a large, easy-to-read size, followed by a gold divider with a small diamond, the personal line, With love, in terracotta script, and the sender’s name in bold serif (The Carter Family in the sample). A teal band across the bottom of the inside page echoes the front, with the brand mark in a pale tint.
How to Print and Fold a Two-Page Card
There are two easy ways to turn the two pages into a real card.
Option 1: flat card with a back
Print page one and page two on the two sides of one sheet of 5 x 7 card stock. The front shows the pumpkins and the back shows the message, like a postcard-style greeting that goes into an envelope.
Option 2: folded card
Print both pages side by side on a 10 x 7 inch sheet (or on Letter paper, trimmed), with the inside page on the right and the front on the left, then fold in half. The message ends up on the inside right, the classic greeting card layout.
In both cases, choose a matte card stock of around 100 lb cover. Teal is a dense colour, so matte paper avoids streaks and makes the cream text crisp.
Personalising the Card in the Editor
Click the name at the bottom of the inside page and type your own. The verse and the personal line are separate text boxes, so you can change one without touching the other. The pumpkins, leaves, and berries are editable vector artwork: select any piece to recolour it from its colour swatches, or ungroup it to adjust parts. For a warmer card, change the teal background to burgundy, and the cream circle stays perfectly readable on top.
Sending It Digitally
Not everyone needs a paper card. Download page one as a PNG and send it in a message with a short personal note, or attach both pages as a PDF to an email. A digital card is also a lovely way to say Happy Thanksgiving to colleagues or to a group chat.
When to Send Thanksgiving Cards
Aim for cards to arrive in the week before Thanksgiving, which in the US means mailing around the middle of November. For overseas friends, allow two to three weeks. Cards that arrive on the day or just after still feel thoughtful, especially digital ones sent that morning.
Writing a Longer Note on the Teal Card
Some cards deserve more than a signature. For a parent, an old friend, or someone who had a hard year, a few handwritten sentences on the inside page mean more than any verse. There is space between the personal line and With love, for two or three short lines in pen. If you need more room, delete the gold divider and move the sign-off lower. Write the note in dark ink; the cream paper shows it beautifully, and a gold gel pen on the teal front is a lovely way to add a name above the title.
Greeting Card Questions
Can I use this card for Canadian Thanksgiving?
Yes. The design has no date on it, so it works perfectly for October.
Can I add a photo?
The cream circle is a natural spot for a family photo. Add a circle from the Elements panel, place it inside the gold ring, and use Replace Image; then remove or move the pumpkins.
What envelope fits?
A standard A7 envelope fits a 5 x 7 card. A kraft or deep orange envelope pairs nicely with the teal.
A few lines of gratitude in a beautiful card can mean more than any gift. Write your message, sign your name, and send a little warmth into someone’s November.
