On Diwali morning, every brand, shop, school, and creator posts a greeting. Most of them look alike: crowded collages of lamps, fireworks, rangoli, and stock photos. This square post takes a quieter route that tends to stand out in a busy feed: one big glowing diya, generous space, and lettering large enough to read in a thumbnail.

The Teal and Gold Diya Post at a Glance

The post is 1080 x 1080 pixels, the standard square size for Instagram and Facebook feeds. The background is a deep teal, calm and slightly unexpected for Diwali, which lets the gold and orange elements glow. At the top, Happy is written in large gold Great Vibes script, and DIWALI follows in ivory Cinzel Decorative capitals with generous spacing. A single italic line in Cormorant Garamond reads May your home glow with light, love and prosperity.

The lower half is given almost entirely to a brass diya, drawn large, with a lit flame and a soft halo of light. Orange and yellow marigold blooms are cropped into the bottom corners, a large flower and a small one on each side. Between them, FROM ALL OF US AT YOUR BRAND sits in spaced gold capitals with the Office Templates Online mark below in a muted teal.

Who This Post Suits

  • Small businesses and shops that want a polished greeting without a design agency.
  • Restaurants, salons, clinics and studios posting a festival wish to their followers.
  • Schools, coaching centres and community groups.
  • Creators and influencers who want a clean greeting that matches a minimal feed.
  • Individuals who want something more elegant than a forwarded image.

Personalising the Brand Line

Click FROM ALL OF US AT YOUR BRAND and type your business or family name. Keep it in capitals so it matches the spaced style. Short names look best; if yours is long, try FROM THE TEAM AT and your name, and reduce the letter spacing slightly if it wraps. If you want your own logo instead of the text, add a shape from the Elements panel in the same position, use Replace Image to place your logo inside it, and remove the text line.

Caption Bank for Your Diwali Post

Colour Options for Different Feeds

Teal suits a calm, modern feed. To match your brand, click the background to change it. Deep navy feels corporate and trustworthy. Maroon or plum feels traditional and warm. Near black feels luxurious and pairs well with the gold lettering. Keep the background dark: the diya’s glow and the gold text need contrast. The diya and marigolds are editable vectors, so you can also change their colours from the swatches, for example, making the diya a painted red and gold lamp to match a red brand.

Thinking About the Thumbnail

Most people first see your post as a small square in their feed or on your profile grid. That is why this design keeps only three elements: the word DIWALI, a glowing lamp, and warm colour in the corners. At thumbnail size, the post still reads instantly as a Diwali greeting. If you add more text, check how it looks at a small size before posting; the editor’s zoom-out view is a quick way to preview it.

When to Post a Diwali Greeting

In 2026, Diwali falls on Sunday, November 8, with Dhanteras on Friday, November 6. Many accounts post a greeting on the morning of Diwali and another on Dhanteras or the day after for Govardhan Puja and the New Year. If you post on several days, change the lettering, for example, Happy Dhanteras, and keep the same diya and colours so the posts look like a set on your grid. Your own audience insights will tell you which time of day your followers are most active, which is a better guide than any general rule.

Exporting the Diwali Square for Instagram

Download the design as a PNG at its full 1080 x 1080 size. PNG keeps the lettering and the edges of the diya crisp; JPG is fine if you need a smaller file. Upload it to Instagram as a single image post and choose the square crop. The same file works for Facebook, LinkedIn, and X posts and for WhatsApp, where square images display nicely in chats.

Turning the Post into a Story

For stories, you can share the square post to your story directly from Instagram; it will appear on a coloured background. For a full-screen story designed from the start, the WhatsApp invitation in this collection uses the 1080 x 1920 size, and you could copy this diya and lettering onto a canvas of that shape.

Diwali Instagram Post Questions

Can I use the post for a sale announcement?

It is designed as a greeting. You can add a small line such as Festive offers in store this week under the message, but for a full sale post, the sale templates in this collection are better suited.

Can I remove the marigolds?

Yes. Select each flower and delete it. The design still balances, with the diya as the single focus.

Is the diya a photo?

No, it is vector art. It stays sharp at any size, and you can recolour its body, band, and flame.

Post Your Wishes with Confidence

Add your name, choose a background colour that fits your feed, and download the square. A simple, beautiful greeting says more about your brand than a crowded collage ever could.
