Dogs do not know what a birthday is. They do know what a squeaky toy, a pup cake, and a park full of friends are, and they will love every minute of it. A dog birthday party, or pawty, is pure joy for pet owners and an excellent excuse to gather fellow dog lovers. This invitation is as cheerful as a wagging tail.

Paw Prints, Party Hat and a Bone Name Tag

The card is 5 x 7 inches in sunny yellow. A trail of orange paw prints wanders up the left side and down the right, as if a dog trotted across the card. At the top, It’s a sits in brown capitals above Pawty! in big, chunky brown Luckiest Guy lettering with a white shadow.

In the centre is a round photo slot for your dog’s picture, framed by a cream border and a turquoise ring. Perched on top of the ring is a pink party hat with white polka dots and a turquoise pompom, exactly where it would sit on your dog’s head. A blue balloon dog bobs to the left of the photo. Below it, a cream bone-shaped tag reads Biscuit turns 3! in brown Luckiest Guy. The details follow: the date and time, the park and gate, a two-line italic note about pup cakes for the pups and coffee for the humans with friendly, leashed dogs welcome, and a pink RSVP line. The OTO logo sits at the bottom.

Getting Your Pup Under the Party Hat

Click the round photo and choose Replace Image. Your dog’s picture fills the circle, and the party hat stays right on top. For the best result, use a photo where your dog’s head is in the middle of the frame and looking at the camera. Ears up, tongue out, maybe even wearing an actual party hat. If your dog has a long nose or big ears, choose a photo that shows the whole head without cropping, since the circle trims the corners.

Pawty Rules for a Happy, Safe Party

Dog parties are wonderful when everyone, dogs and humans, feels comfortable. Share a few simple rules with your invitation.

  • Friendly dogs only: Dogs should be sociable with other dogs and with people.
  • Leashes on arrival: Let dogs meet calmly before any off-leash play in a fenced area.
  • Vaccinations up to date: A must for any gathering of dogs.
  • Owners supervise their own dogs: Every human is responsible for their pup.
  • Clean-up bags provided, but bring your own too.
  • Watch the treats: Only dog-safe snacks for the dogs, and keep human food out of reach.
  • Water everywhere: Fresh water bowls in several spots, especially on warm days.

Dog-Safe Treats and the Pup Cake

The card promises pup cakes, and they are easy to make or buy. Many pet shops and bakeries sell dog birthday cakes made with dog-safe ingredients. If you bake your own, popular recipes use oat or whole-wheat flour, plain unsweetened peanut butter (check that it is free of xylitol), mashed banana or pumpkin, and an egg, topped with plain yoghurt instead of icing. Avoid chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, macadamia nuts, and anything with artificial sweeteners, which are dangerous for dogs. For the humans, coffee, doughnuts and a few snacks are plenty, as the card suggests.

Editing the Name, Colours and Paw Prints

Every text line can be edited with a double-click: change Biscuit turns 3! to your dog’s name and age, and update the date, location, note, and RSVP. For a cat’s birthday, change Pawty! to Meow Party! and the paw prints still work.

The paw print trail is one grouped object, so you can recolour all the prints at once, perhaps to match your dog’s collar. The party hat is a small group; change the pink to blue or green, or recolour the dots and pompom. The bone tag is grouped too, and the turquoise ring around the photo is a single circle. The balloon dog is an editable vector illustration you can recolour from its swatch. The yellow background can become mint, sky blue, or lilac in one click. Fonts are Luckiest Guy and Montserrat, both available in the editor.

Choosing the Right Venue

A fenced dog park, a large garden, or a dog-friendly café patio all work well. Check that the venue allows group gatherings; some dog parks ask you not to bring large groups at busy times, and some cafés limit the number of dogs. Mornings are usually best in summer, before it gets hot, which is why the sample party runs from 10 AM to noon. Bring shade, plenty of water, and a first-aid kit, just in case.

Printing and Sending Pawty Invitations

Download the PDF and print on bright white card for the strongest yellow. A 5 x 7 inch card fits an A7 envelope; add a paw-print sticker to seal it. Hand invitations to friends at the dog park, or download a PNG or JPG to share in local dog-owner groups and chats.

Dog Birthday Questions

Should guests bring gifts for the dog?

Gifts are optional. Many owners ask for a donation of food or toys to a local animal shelter instead.

How many dogs should I invite?

Five to ten dogs is manageable for most venues and keeps play friendly.

Can people come without a dog?

Of course. Dog lovers without dogs are often the most enthusiastic guests.

What if my dog is shy?

Keep the party small, invite familiar dogs, and give your dog a quiet spot to rest.

Add your dog’s photo, type their name, and send out the pawty invitations. Tails will be wagging all morning.
