Most Black Friday posters look alike: black background, red burst, a shouted percentage. If you want your poster to stand out on a wall full of sale signs, a confident graphic design approach can do it. This 18 x 24 inch poster borrows from Swiss and brutalist poster design, with a strong grid, oversized numbers, and plain information cells, to make Black Friday 2026 look like an event worth noticing.

The Swiss-Style 2026 Poster Explained

The poster is 18 x 24 inches, a standard poster frame size. The top half is solid red. A thin masthead line runs across the top: BLACK FRIDAY SALE on the left, NO. 11.27 on the right, with a black rule underneath. The year 2026 fills the width of the poster as huge hollow Anton numerals, drawn with a black outline so the red shows through. Another black rule closes the top section.

The bottom half is a solid black block. BLACK is set flush left in enormous white Anton letters, with FRIDAY below in red. On the right, a narrow column holds three information cells divided by fine white rules. Each cell has a tiny red label and a value in Bebas Neue: WHEN, FRI 11.27; OFFER, UP TO 60%; WHERE, STORE + WEB.

At the foot, a short sentence gives the details: Up to 60% off storewide.Doors open at 6 AM, online deals from midnight, with the shop name and street in small grey capitals and the brand mark on the right.

What Makes Swiss Poster Design Effective

  • A clear grid: Everything aligns to the same left edge and the same rules, so the eye moves in order.
  • Few colours: Red, black and white only. Nothing competes.
  • Type as the image: The huge 2026 and BLACK FRIDAY are the artwork; no clip art needed.
  • Information in labelled cells: Date, offer, and place are as easy to scan as a timetable.

The result looks designed rather than decorated, which suits shops with a modern brand.

Editing the Black Friday Poster Details

Click any text to edit it. The information cells are the heart of the poster:

LabelSample valueOther ideas
WHENFRI 11.27NOV 27 TO 30, 6 AM START
OFFERUP TO 60%40% OFF ALL, BUY 2 GET 1
WHERESTORE + WEBALL STORES, ONLINE ONLY

Keep each value short so it stays on one line. The masthead number, NO. 11.27, is a playful nod to issue numbers on magazines; change it to your shop’s opening date or remove it.

Changing the Year and Headline

The outlined 2026 is editable text with a stroke. Next year, change it to 2027 in seconds. You could also replace the year with a percentage, such as 60%, for a different poster in the same style. If you change BLACK FRIDAY to CYBER MONDAY, reduce the font size a little, because CYBER MONDAY is longer.

Swiss Poster Colour Variations

The red and black pairing is the classic Swiss combination, but the grid works with others:

  • yellow top with black block for maximum visibility;
  • ultramarine blue top with black block for tech and design stores;
  • cream top with deep green block for bookshops and homeware;
  • pink top with black block for beauty and fashion.

Change the page colour for the top, the black block’s fill for the bottom, and the red word FRIDAY to match.

Printing the 18 x 24 Poster

Download the PDF and send it to a print shop or an online poster printer. Large solid areas of red and black print best on a professional printer, which gives even colour without banding. Choose matte paper for indoor walls and a weather-resistant material if the poster goes outside. Smaller copies at 11 x 17 inches work for counters, and Letter size works as a handout.

Where a Design-Led Poster Works Best

This style suits places where people expect good design: independent shops, design studios, concept stores, coffee shops, bookstores, gyms and galleries. It also suits student unions and co-working spaces running Black Friday deals for members. In a busy mall, the bold grid and outlined year help it stand apart from standard sale signs.

Framing and Hanging Tips

An 18 x 24 inch frame with a thin black edge suits the poster perfectly and keeps it flat. For short-term use, poster hangers or bulldog clips on a wire look tidy and fit the industrial feel. In a window, mount it facing out at eye level and add a second copy facing in so staff remember the details too.

Matching Black Friday Social Graphics

The same grid translates easily into social media posts. For a square Instagram post, keep the outlined 2026 at the top and BLACK FRIDAY below, and move the information cells into a single row. Using the same red, black, and type on posters and posts helps customers connect your online and in-store sale.

Typography Notes for the Poster

Anton is a tall condensed sans serif made for headlines; it fits a lot of letters into a narrow space, which is why BLACK and FRIDAY can be so large. Bebas Neue, used in the information cells, is similar but lighter, so the values read as details rather than headlines. Montserrat handles the small text. All three are Google Fonts, so the poster opens with the right fonts in the editor.

Keeping the Grid Intact When Editing

Swiss layouts depend on alignment. When you edit, keep text boxes aligned to the same left edge, about one inch from the side of the poster. If you add a new element, such as a QR code, place it inside the black block on the same line as the information cells, not floating in space. Use the editor’s alignment tools to snap items into line.

Adding a QR Code to the Sale Poster

A QR code turns a printed poster into a doorway to your online sale. Generate a QR code that links to your Black Friday page, place it in the bottom right of the black block in white on black, and add a tiny label such as SCAN TO SHOP. Test it with several phones before printing.

2026 Sale Poster Questions

Can I use a different font for the year?

Yes. Condensed bold fonts work best. Wide fonts will need a smaller size to fit.

Can I add a product photo?

Swiss posters often use one strong photo. Replace the outlined year with a full-width photo frame if you prefer.

Will it print well in black and white?

The red top becomes mid-grey, and the design still works, although the colour is part of its impact.

Good design gets noticed, even on Black Friday. Fill in your date, offer, and place, print it big, and let this poster turn a sale into an event.
