Some people want carols by candlelight. Others want to dance until their feet hurt. A Christmas disco gives the dancers their night: a mirror ball, coloured lights, a DJ playing festive hits and disco classics, and a dance floor that never empties. It suits office parties, school discos, teenage parties, clubs and anyone who loves music. This 5 x 7 inch invitation is a burst of neon: a deep violet background, a mirror ball hanging from a silver chain, beams of pink, cyan and yellow light fanning out below it, glowing CHRISTMAS and DISCO lettering, and a grid of coloured dance floor tiles along the bottom.

The Mirror Ball Moment

The mirror ball is the heart of every disco, and it is the first thing guests see on the card. It hangs from a thin silver chain at the top centre, made of colourful mirror tiles. Five soft beams in pink, cyan and yellow spread down from it across the card, like spotlights sweeping the room. Below, CHRISTMAS glows in hot pink Monoton and DISCO in electric cyan, each with a coloured shadow that mimics neon light. An italic line invites guests to dance the night away in their sparkliest outfit, and the details follow in bold white capitals.

The Light Up Dance Floor

At the bottom of the card, a grid of square tiles in pink, cyan, yellow and purple recalls the famous light-up dance floors of 1970s discos. The tiles are grouped as one object, so they move and recolour together, and they are slightly transparent so they glow against the violet background. The RSVP line sits above the floor in yellow, like a sign on a club wall.

Planning a Christmas Disco

A good disco needs three things: music, lights and space. Book a DJ or build a playlist that mixes Christmas pop hits with disco classics and current dance tracks. Hire or buy a mirror ball with a spotlight, LED party lights and perhaps a smoke machine where permitted. Clear a large area for dancing, and set up a bar or drinks table and a chill-out zone with seating. For school or youth discos, plan supervision, a clear finishing time and collection arrangements for parents.

Music for a Christmas Disco

Start the night with upbeat Christmas songs that everyone knows, then build energy with disco and funk classics, and mix in current chart hits and party anthems. Save a few singalong Christmas songs for the peak of the night and finish with a slower song or a big group favourite. If the crowd includes different ages, mix decades so everyone recognises something.

Dress Code: Sparkle

The invitation asks guests to wear their sparkliest outfit. Sequins, glitter, metallics, velvet, and anything shiny all fit. Some hosts choose a theme within the theme: 1970s disco, silver and gold, or neon. A best-dressed prize encourages effort. Remind guests to wear shoes they can dance in.

Editing the Disco Invitation

Click the detail lines to change them; the sample reads FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 9 PM, The Velvet Room, 77 Neon Avenue, Las Vegas, DJ, glitter bar, light-up dance floor. Update the RSVP name and number. The mirror ball is an editable vector; resize or recolour it. To change the neon colours, select each title line and change its fill and its shadow colour. The beams and dance floor are groups that can be recoloured.

School and Youth Discos

Christmas discos are a favourite at primary and secondary schools. For a school disco, add the school name, the ticket price, the age group and the finishing time. Mention whether snacks are sold and how parents should collect children. Print the invitation at letter size as a poster for corridors and classrooms, and send the image to parents by email or the school app.

Office Christmas Disco

An office disco is a fun alternative to a formal dinner. Many companies hire a venue with a dance floor and a DJ after a buffet or drinks reception. Change the venue to the company’s chosen location and add a company logo, and keep the dress code inclusive, so colleagues feel comfortable whether they love sequins or not.

Safety on the Dance Floor

Keep the dance floor clear of drinks and bags, make sure exits are visible, and if you use a smoke or haze machine, check the venue allows it and that it will not trigger fire alarms. Provide water, and make sure guests have a safe way home.

Printing the Neon Invitation

Neon colours glow on screens but print a little softer on paper. Download a PDF and print at 5 x 7 inches with full bleed on a glossy card for the brightest colours. A print shop can achieve richer violets than most home printers. For maximum impact, many hosts send this design digitally.

Posting the Disco Invitation

Download a PNG and share it in group chats and on social media. The dark background and bright colours look striking on phones, especially in dark mode.

Disco Party Questions

Can I change DISCO to DANCE PARTY?

Yes, but reduce the font size so it fits on one line.

Can I add a DJ’s name?

Add a line above the details, such as Music by DJ Nova.

Is the dance floor editable?

Yes. It is a grouped set of tiles; ungroup it to change single tiles.

Lighting the Dance Floor at Home

You do not need a nightclub to create a disco atmosphere. A small mirror ball with a pin spot light, a couple of LED party lights that change colour with the music, and strings of coloured fairy lights transform a living room or garage. Switch off the main lights and push furniture to the edges to create a dance floor. A few glow sticks handed out at the door add to the fun, especially for younger guests.

Let’s Dance

Fill in your details, hang the mirror ball, and send the invitation. A Christmas disco is the party for everyone who wants to celebrate the season on their feet.
