Sometimes the most effective invitation is the simplest. This 5 x 7 inch design is almost entirely typography: LET’S in green, a huge PARTY in red Bowlby One, a tilted Santa hat perched on the top corner of the word, and IT’S CHRISTMAS! underneath. Confetti dots in red, green, and yellow scatter around the edges of a warm cream page. It is cheerful, modern, and instantly readable, perfect for a home party with friends, a team celebration, or a casual neighbourhood get-together.

Typography as Decoration

Bold typographic invitations rely on the letters themselves. Bowlby One is a very heavy display font with a friendly shape, and at large sizes it fills the card with colour. Placing the Santa hat on the top corner of PARTY makes the word itself wear a costume, a playful idea that people remember. The words are stacked to create a clear rhythm: a short green word, a huge red word, and a green line that finishes the thought. A dark rule then separates the headline from the practical details, which are set in clean Montserrat.

Details That Fit the Fun Tone

The sample text gives Friday, December 18, 7:30 PM, at the Moreno house in Phoenix, and promises Food, drinks, music, and a Santa hat for every guest. That last line sets a playful expectation and gives guests a reason to smile. A green rounded pill at the bottom holds the RSVP name and number. Every line is easy to change: click and type.

A Santa Hat for Every Guest

If you keep the promise on the invitation, buy a pack of inexpensive Santa hats and hand one to each guest at the door. Hats make photos instantly festive, help break the ice, and give everyone a shared look. You could also offer elf hats, reindeer antlers, and tinsel boas in a basket for guests to choose from.

Party Plan for a Casual Christmas Night

A relaxed evening needs little structure. Greet guests with a festive drink, such as cranberry punch or eggnog. Set out a buffet of easy food: sliders, tacos, a cheese board, wings and Christmas cookies. Play a mix of Christmas pop and party favourites. Around nine, run one simple activity, such as a quick quiz, a gift exchange or a round of charades, then let the music carry the rest of the night.

Recolouring the Bold Type and Confetti

The design uses three colours: red for PARTY, green for the supporting words and the pill, and a dark ink for details. Click each text to change its colour. For a modern pastel version, use pink and mint. For a classic version, keep red and green. The confetti is a group of dots; select it to recolour or delete it. The Santa hat is an editable vector; recolour it to green for an elf-themed party.

Moving the Hat

The hat is placed so it sits on the corner of the Y in PARTY. If you change the word or the font size, you may need to move the hat. Select it, drag it into place, and rotate it slightly so it looks like it is resting on the letter. Make sure it does not cover letters needed to read the word.

Wording Swaps for Other Parties

The structure works for many occasions. Change LET’S PARTY to LET’S EAT for a Christmas dinner, LET’S SING for a carol night, or LET’S DANCE for a Christmas disco. Change IT’S CHRISTMAS! to IT’S THE HOLIDAYS! for a broader celebration, or IT’S OUR TENTH! for an anniversary party in December.

Printing the Typographic Invitation

Download a PDF and print at 5 x 7 inches on white or cream card. Because the design uses a cream background with bold colours, it prints well at home. For a crisp finish, ask a print shop for a smooth matte card. Red envelopes add to the fun.

Sharing on Social Media

The bold type reads well even at small sizes, which makes this design work beautifully as a phone invitation. Download a JPG and send it in group chats. For an Instagram post, copy the design onto a square canvas and enlarge the headline.

Office Party Version

For a workplace party, change the address to the office location, add the company name at the top, and replace the Santa hat promise with something like Festive jumpers encouraged. Post the image in the team chat and on the notice board.

Typography Tips if You Change Fonts

If you want a different look, choose another very bold display font for PARTY, such as Anton, Bebas Neue, or Luckiest Guy, and keep a clean sans for the details. Avoid script fonts for the big word; they lose impact at this weight. Check that the word still fits on one line after changing the font.

Santa Hat Invitation Questions

Can I use a different hat?

Yes. Replace the hat with another illustration from the Elements panel, such as reindeer antlers.

Is the confetti one object?

Yes. It is grouped; ungroup it to move single dots.

Which date is the sample?

Friday, December 18, 2026, one week before Christmas Day.

A Photo Corner for Santa Hat Selfies

If every guest gets a Santa hat, they will want photos. Set up a simple photo corner with a plain wall, a string of lights, a few wrapped boxes, and a sign that echoes the invitation, such as LET’S PARTY in red letters. A ring light or a lamp angled at the wall makes phone photos look better. Ask guests to share their pictures in a group album after the party, and you will have a collection of festive memories from everyone’s point of view.

Timing the Invitation

Send this invitation three to four weeks before the party. Casual parties in December compete with work events and family gatherings, so an early invitation helps. Follow up a week before with a short reminder.

Keep It Simple, Make It Fun

Type your details, place the hat just so, and send the invitation. A big, bold PARTY is the clearest promise of a good time.
