This page answers the questions people actually ask about a 2027 calendar with holidays. Every heading below is one of those questions.
What Is on This Calendar?
It is a single US Letter page (8.5 x 11 inches, portrait) with two parts. The top half is the full year of 2027: twelve months arranged four across and three down, under a solid plum title bar that reads 2027. Each month has a pale lavender label with the month name in plum, single-letter weekday initials and dates in deep indigo, with weekends tinted lavender and their numbers in hot pink.
The bottom half is a table titled HOLIDAYS & OBSERVANCES 2027, with three columns: Date, Day, and Holiday or observance. A small italic note explains that Islamic dates depend on moon sightings, and the OTO logo sits at the bottom of the page.
Which Holidays Are Listed?
The table includes a mix of widely observed holidays and observances for 2027, chosen so the calendar is useful to as many people as possible:
| Date | Day | Holiday or observance |
|---|---|---|
| January 1 | Friday | New Year’s Day |
| February 8* | Monday | Ramadan begins (approx.) |
| February 14 | Sunday | Valentine’s Day |
| March 10* | Wednesday | Eid al-Fitr (approx.) |
| March 28 | Sunday | Easter Sunday |
| May 9 | Sunday | Mother’s Day (US) |
| May 17* | Monday | Eid al-Adha (approx.) |
| June 20 | Sunday | Father’s Day (US) |
| July 4 | Sunday | Independence Day (US) |
| October 31 | Sunday | Halloween |
| November 25 | Thursday | Thanksgiving (US) |
| December 25 | Saturday | Christmas Day |
Why Are Some Dates Marked Approximate?
Islamic holidays follow the lunar Hijri calendar, and each month begins with the sighting of the new crescent moon. Because sightings depend on location and weather, the actual date can differ by a day between countries, and even between communities in the same city. The dates on the calendar are the expected dates based on astronomical calculations. As the date approaches, check with your local mosque or community and update the table if needed.
Can I Add My Own Country’s Holidays?
Yes, and you should. The holiday list is the editor’s Table object, so click any cell to edit it, or use the Table options to add rows. Add national days, bank holidays, regional festivals and religious observances that matter to you. Some people delete the US-specific rows and replace them with their own country’s holidays; others add a column for Office closed? to turn the calendar into a workplace holiday schedule.
How Do I Change the Year?
The full-year calendar at the top is one Calendar object in the editor’s Full Year style. Open Calendar Options and set the year; all twelve months rebuild with the correct dates, and the title updates. The holiday table is separate text, so update the dates and days for the new year. Easter, Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the Islamic holidays move every year, so they always need checking.
Does the Week Start on Sunday or Monday?
Sunday, by default, which suits the United States, Canada and many other countries. If you prefer Monday-start weeks, as is common in the UK, Europe, Pakistan and India, change the week start in Calendar Options. The weekend shading moves with it.
Who Uses a Calendar Like This?
- Offices and HR teams publishing a holiday schedule for staff.
- Schools sharing closure days with families.
- Families planning trips around long weekends.
- Shops and restaurants planning opening hours and promotions.
- Multicultural communities marking festivals from different traditions.
Can I Change the Colours?
Yes. The plum, lavender and pink palette is set in Calendar Options for the year grid and in the Table options for the holiday table. Navy and grey suit an office; green and gold suit a community centre; red and green suit a festive edition. Fonts can be changed too; Poppins is used by default and any Google font is available.
Can I Highlight the Holidays on the Year Grid?
Yes. After printing, circle each holiday date on the year grid in the same colour you use in the table, or add a small sticker. Digitally, you can place a small coloured circle shape over a date in the editor; just remember to move it if you change the year later, because the shape is separate from the calendar.
What Paper and Format Work Best?
Download the PDF and print on letter paper. The design uses moderate colour and prints well on home printers. For an office noticeboard, print on card and add a clear plastic sleeve. For a shared digital copy, download a PNG or JPG to post on an intranet or in a group chat.
How Do I Plan Long Weekends?
Look for holidays that fall on a Monday or a Friday; those are natural long weekends. In 2027, New Year’s Day falls on a Friday, giving an easy three-day weekend to start the year. Easter Sunday is March 28, so the Easter weekend falls at the end of March. Mark these early and book travel or time off before prices rise and colleagues claim the same days. Families with school-age children can also compare the list with the school calendar to find the best weekends for short trips. For holidays in the middle of the week, taking one or two days off can turn them into a four- or five-day break.
Can I Use It for a Multi-Faith Calendar?
Yes. The table already mixes observances from several traditions, and you can add more, such as Diwali, Hanukkah, Lunar New Year, Vaisakhi, or Rosh Hashanah, with their 2027 dates. Schools and workplaces with diverse communities often publish a calendar like this so everyone can see important days at a glance and plan events with care.
What If a Holiday Falls on a Weekend?
Many employers and governments move the day off to the nearest weekday when a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, as happens with Independence Day and Christmas in 2027. Add an extra row to the table for the observed day off if that applies where you live.
Check the dates, add your local holidays, and print. Long weekends are easier to enjoy when you see them coming.
