The 100th day of school is one of the most exciting milestones in early elementary classrooms, and this calendar helps children count every day on the way. The landscape page features a large hundreds chart, ten rows of ten numbered boxes from 1 to 100, with each row ending in a rainbow coloured tens box. On the right, a big blue 100 and the words Days of School in red script sit above a friendly instruction to colour one box for every day of learning together. Ten colourful circles show the numbers 10 to 100 under the label Count by Tens, and a green-framed box holds lines for the celebration date and class name.

Why Count the Days to 100

Counting school days builds number sense in a meaningful way. Children practise counting, recognise patterns in the hundreds chart, learn place value with tens and ones, and see how small daily steps add up to a big number. Reaching 100 together creates a shared celebration that children remember for years.

Using the Hundreds Chart Daily

At the start of each school day, a helper colours or covers the next number on the chart. Count together from 1 to today’s number, or count by tens to the latest row and then by ones. As the chart fills, children see their progress grow.

Rainbow Tens Column

The last box in each row is coloured, highlighting 10, 20, 30 and so on. These coloured boxes help children see groups of ten and make it easier to count quickly by tens, a key early maths skill.

Count by Tens Circles

Ten colourful circles display the tens from 10 to 100. Point to each circle as the class chants the numbers. The circle colours match the rainbow tens column, connecting the two activities visually.

Planning the 100th Day Celebration

Write the expected celebration date in the box once you know it, usually around February in schools that start in late August or September. Popular activities include collecting 100 items, writing 100 words, doing 100 exercises, building with 100 blocks, and dressing up as if you were 100 years old.

Hundreds Chart Maths Activities

Beyond daily counting, the chart supports many activities: finding numbers that are ten more or ten less, spotting odd and even numbers, colouring patterns of fives, playing number hunt games, and solving simple addition by moving across the chart.

Using the Calendar in Kindergarten

Kindergarten teachers can use the chart as part of morning circle time. Young children love colouring their box, and the routine builds familiarity with numbers up to 100 by the end of the year.

Using the Calendar in First Grade

First graders can take on more responsibility, such as writing the number, counting by fives and tens independently, and using the chart for addition and subtraction practice.

Using the Calendar at Home and in Homeschool

Homeschool families and parents can use the chart to count learning days at home. It pairs well with our homeschool attendance tracker for older children and makes maths practice part of the daily routine.

Bright Rainbow Design

The rainbow colours and rounded Fredoka font are cheerful and easy for young children to read. Change any colour or font in the editor to match your classroom theme.

Editing the Hundreds Chart

The chart is an editable table. Change colours, highlight special numbers, or add small icons. The class name and celebration lines are editable text, so you can type them before printing.

Printing the 100th Day Calendar

Print in landscape on US Letter at actual size for a small display, or ask a print shop to enlarge it to poster size for a classroom wall where everyone can see it from the carpet.

Displaying the Chart Interactively

Laminate the printed chart and use dry-erase markers or sticky dots, or project it on an interactive whiteboard so children can tap and colour each day digitally.

Classroom Templates for the 100th Day

Pair the 100th day calendar with our preschool circle time calendar, class superlative awards, and 100th day certificates for a complete classroom celebration set.

Saving the 100th Day Template

Save the chart in your account and print a fresh copy each school year. Keep last year’s completed chart to show the new class how far they will go.

100th Day Calendar File Formats

Download a PDF for printing or an image for screens. The chart and colours stay perfectly aligned in every format.

Sending Home a 100th Day Note

A few weeks before the big day, send families a note explaining the celebration and any activities, such as bringing a bag of 100 small items. Including a photo of the class chart helps families share in the excitement.

100th Day Writing Prompts

Literacy activities make the celebration even richer. Try prompts such as If I had 100 dollars, I would, When I am 100 years old, I will, or I can name 100 things that are. Children can illustrate their writing and display it next to the completed hundreds chart for families to see.

Collecting 100 Items as a Class

Ask each child to bring 100 small items, such as buttons, cereal pieces or stickers, and practise grouping them into tens on the carpet. Matching each group of ten to a coloured tens box on the chart makes place value concrete and fun.

Counting Down Instead of Up

Some teachers prefer to count down from 100 to the celebration. Start with every box coloured and cross one off each day instead.

100th Day Snack Ideas

A class snack mix made from ten different foods, with ten pieces of each, is a tasty way to practise counting by tens. Check for allergies first, and let children count their own portions into a cup before enjoying them together.

Extending Beyond 100

Some classes keep counting all year, reaching around 180 days. Print a second chart labelled 101 to 200 to continue the routine after the celebration and keep maths practice going until the last day of school.
