The classroom Thanksgiving feast is a rite of passage. Paper-bag turkeys, construction-paper hats, a table covered in snacks of questionable nutritional value, and a room full of very excited six-year-olds. Families want to know when, what to bring, and whether they are welcome. This Kids’ Thanksgiving Party Invitation tells them, on a page that looks like it came straight out of a school notebook.

Teacher’s Checklist Before You Print

  • Confirm the date, time, and room with your school office.
  • Check your school’s policy on food sharing and allergies.
  • Decide whether families are invited to stay, drop in, or just send food.
  • Plan the snack list or a sign-up so you do not get thirty bags of crisps.
  • Choose how the invitation goes home: backpack folder, email, class app or all three.
  • Translate the text if your class has families who read another language best.

Once those answers are settled, editing the card takes about five minutes.

A Notebook-Paper Invitation with a Rainbow Turkey

The page is 5 x 7 inches, portrait, and looks like a sheet of lined school paper: pale blue horizontal rules every few millimetres and a red margin line down the left side. The lines are one grouped object, so they never get in the way when you click text.

The star of the card is a big, friendly turkey drawn the way children draw them. Its six tail feathers fan out behind it in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, each one a long rounded shape with a white outline, like fingers on a painted handprint. The body is a round chocolate-brown shape, the head a smaller brown circle with two big white eyes, a yellow beak, a red wattle, and two orange stick legs with little feet. Every part is a simple shape, grouped, so you can recolour a feather or the whole bird in seconds.

Under the turkey, Turkey Feast! bounces across the page in Chewy, a playful rounded font, in bright orange with a soft offset shadow. The rest of the text is in Patrick Hand, which looks like neat teacher handwriting: Our classroom Thanksgiving party, the room and class name, and a friendly note about snacks and families. The date and time sit in a bright blue pill shape that reads like a sticker. Three cheerful pumpkins line up along the bottom of the page.

Wording for Different Classrooms

Here are swaps for the sample lines depending on your class:

  • Preschool: Our little turkeys are having a feast! and Please send a fruit or veggie snack.
  • Kindergarten: We are thankful for YOU! Come eat with us.
  • Older grades: Grade 4 Thanksgiving Potluck and sign up for a dish on the class app.
  • After-school club: Fall Feast at Kids’ Club with pickup times instead of a room number.
  • Homeschool co-op: Co-op Harvest Lunch with the meeting place.

Handling Snacks and Allergies on the Invitation

The sample asks families to bring one snack to share. If your school is nut-free, or a classmate has a serious allergy, say so on the card in plain words: Our classroom is nut-free. Store-bought snacks with labels, please. Many schools only allow packaged food for parties; check yours and mention it, because parents would rather know before they bake.

For a structured snack list, add a short line such as Last names A to H: fruit; I to P: crackers or pretzels; Q to Z: juice boxes. It fits in place of the Questions? line and saves you a lot of messages.

Making Changes in the Editor

Click any line of text to type over it. The class line (Room 12 · Mrs. Alvarez’s First Grade) is a good place for both the room number and the teacher’s name. The blue date pill is a rounded rectangle with text on top; if your date is longer, widen the pill a little so the text does not touch its ends.

The pumpkins at the bottom are editable vector art. Select one to change its colours from its swatches; a white pumpkin or a green squash adds variety. You can also delete one and put a small class photo in its place by adding a shape from the Elements panel and using Replace Image.

Printing for a Whole Class

Download the PDF and print two invitations per Letter sheet. Plain copy paper is fine for backpack folders, and the pale blue lines print well on any school copier, even in grey. If you have a colour printer, the rainbow feathers are worth it: children notice colour first and are more likely to hand a bright card to a parent.

For the class app or email, download a PNG. It reads clearly on a phone, and families can save it to remember the date.

Party Ideas That Match the Card

  • Let each child make a handprint turkey to take home, using the same rainbow feather colours.
  • Ask everyone to say one thing they are thankful for before the snacks come out.
  • Read a short Thanksgiving picture book during the feast.
  • Make paper headbands with feathers in the six colours.
  • Send home a leftover-free classroom by planning portions with the snack list.

Sending the Feast Invitation Home in Two Languages

Many classrooms include families who read Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, or another language more comfortably than English. The card has enough room to repeat the key lines in a second language without redesigning anything. Shorten the Patrick Hand lines to the essentials (what, when, what to bring), then add the translation directly under each one in a slightly smaller size, or use the editor’s Add Page button to make a second page with the same turkey and the translated text. Families notice the effort, and you will get fewer confused messages the night before the party. Ask a colleague or a parent volunteer to check the translation, because automatic tools often get school words like snack to share wrong.

Classroom Feast FAQs

Can I use this for a daycare or preschool party?

Yes. The illustration and fonts suit very young children, and the notebook paper still works as a nod to school.

Can children colour the turkey?

For a colouring version, select the turkey group and change every part to white with a black outline, then print. Children can fill in the feathers themselves.

Is it suitable for a Friendsgiving for kids?

Definitely. Change Turkey Feast! to Kidsgiving! and the class line to the host family’s name and address.

Small hands, big appetites, and a room full of grateful noise: that is a classroom feast. Make the invitation bright, keep the instructions simple, and the families will take care of the rest.
